    Nope, not a great idea. If you go O/O, and try to lease on with someone, your history will still apply to their profile, no different then if you were applying for a company job. If you decide to operate totally on your own authorities, with $200,000 worth of tractor and wagon, your insurance will be thru the roof - if you're lucky enough to find any at all. Incidentally, I'm assuming by 'less then stellar' history, you have some serious enough issues that the carriers won't touch you. IE - If Kriska hires out of your school directly, and won't touch you, that says something. What's your history look like - that'll tell you how long it'll take to clear up. JMHO.

    I have a 2 year old unsafe pass on the right, and a year ago settled a driving suspended/ no insurance 2-4-1. 8 years ago I got nailed with a careless as a result of an accident.

    Most tickets come off after 3 years. And no, the school didn't say anything about it.
