[h=2]Protecting the integrity of the Temporary Foreign Worker program[/h]We strongly encourage Canadians, employers and temporary foreign workers to report any potential cases of abuse of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to the Government of Canada. If you are aware that someone has been misusing the program, please let us know.

    http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/about/integrity/tfwp/reporting.shtml

By limiting access to the program, tightening the labour market assessment and implementing stronger enforcement with tougher penalties for employers who break the rules, businesses will have to make greater efforts to recruit and train Canadians for available jobs, including increasing wages.

I would say that's a win win situation all around... First very good drivers and people dont come to Canada with a promise of a new begining to be crushed and held hostage with H&R lies and road of empty promises.(what do they say about Canada when they go home busted and broke?)... Second the less of them that are allowed to work here the better were off we are as well with increased wages being treated better, if that's even possible at H&R and most importantly foreigner's wont be going home to say Canada suck's when we worked so hard to say come to Canada the best country in the world to live in to be bashed by companies like these to abuse at free will no restrictions and to me that's as important as putting the boots to abuser's hiring rights, enought said ???

I went to their website and couldn't find any qualifications for drivers. That tells me to keep looking elsewhere.

The only qualification you need for H&R is an immigration work visa.

Problem is that we don't have a shortage of drivers, just a shortage of decent paying driving jobs.

I recall at the Alberta Trucking association annual meeting in Banff when ###**le Ed Bradley was the guest speaker. His opening remark was that we had a shortage of 52,000 truck drivers in Canada and what should we do??? I raised my hand and stood up and responded that if the wages were increase we could hire from the 110,000 Class 1 drivers that the federal Government had published that they no longer drove for a living as "it wasn't worth it".

What would reasonable pay look like for a driver? I always see drivers complaining about pay but being new to the industry I don't know what to base that off of. Would .52 cpm be considered good?

That's better than average as long as you can average 50 MPH. Problem is opf course that this mileage rate includes, fueling, pretrip, postrip, paperwork, spotting trailer, hooking up, unloading, loading etc etc etc.

We pay our drivers by the hour FOR ALL HOURS WORKED. Starting rate is $30.00 per hour overtime after 10 per day or 50 per week. Holiday Pay at 6%, benefits package, pension etc etc.

I should have mentioned that should wages exceed 28 % of the revenue, either the rate is too low or the pay rate is to high. I always paid hourly and stayed below the 28% on average.
