I live in alaska and have no CB shops up here. I'm looking to purchase a small linear to add to my Cobra 148GTL. Can anyone tell me of any good places on the internet or someone I can call to purchase on of these?
Thanks,
Redly

look around youll found what your looking if you want a good amp go with fatboy, davemade,or worldwide amps.

With a Cobra 148, you probably would be better oiff buying an amplifier with class AB bias, like a Texas Star,
BTW You do know Amplifiers are illegal for CB's ???????????????????? -
Those Linears are not totaly legal for ham use either ...... -
I have purchased a few amplifiers for my customers from http://www.amateurlinearamplifiers.com The service and shipping has always been super fast and easy to deal with and the prices are always good. The stock always rotates it seems like, you never know what they might have from one week to the next, but, when you check back, they always have something you're looking for. I don't deal in amplifiers here much, I got tired of selling amps to guys and then they burn them up due to lack of experience, or incorrect radio setup or what have you, so, I stray away from that ball game, I'll let the fly by night amp builders worry about them points, it's too much hassle for me when I already have more than enough radio work to be done. I'm not a fan of home built boxes by the famous guys who build them after a long day at the day job either. I prefer amps built by Texas Star, Fat Boy, Magna Force, or something of that name that some amount of quality control has been used. I see too many home built boxes in here and it fascinates me that they even power up without popping a cork, much less actually transmitting for long. The saddest thing is the guys who run 1/2 wide copper stand across the pills and say it's for grounding purposes, that's a real hoot, what they are actually doing is concealing the fact that they have mixed pills in there and they don't want the customer knowing that they have installed 2879's and 2290's in line with each other because they did not have all the 2879's they needed so they fudged the job and installed the 2290's to make up the lacking parts and then collect that money, only so that they can fix the box for more money when it burns up ( and guys wonder why the box is not doing what the builder claims, LOL the builder is really hoping like hell you are too stupid to ever realize it). The things I see in here scare me sometimes and I don't even want to put the power to them for fear of burning my shop to the ground, but, 30 years later, I have been learning to be more and more careful with home built amps.
