It's quite possible that they COULD fix/adjust on the radio, but without a schematic it would take a lot more time than they are willing to spend on it. Remember, time is money...

Sounds Pretty Similiar To My Experience Imagine That,New Coax, New Mount, Etc. My Previous Coax Was Brand New Rg8, It Is The Norm For Every Cb Shop To Sell Coax. I Paid(Hard Drive) In Amarillo To Put Radio In My New Truck And Bought New MOunt CoAx. i had Everything Verified At Callahan Cb Shop Next To Jax, Fl. -
never let a "technician" remove, disable, cut or bypass the modulation limiter. it is there for a reason. removing it or cutting the diode is very rude for others who are using adjacent channels. it turns a radio into a crap splatterbox that sounds like total garbage.

I am sure that every user of a cut-diode jacked-up peaked and tuned CB with a mike gain knob has also bought, and religiously uses, a modulation scope so they can monitor the TX signal and be absolutely sure it is not splattering all over the band.
The amount of overmodulation necessary to splatter in a messed up CB occurs long before the audio starts to sound bad. If it's a 4 watt CB it's not so bad but when an amplifier is added and it amplifies all the garbage too, same goes for a high power 'export' radio amplifying the garbage.
It's better to leave the thing stock and run a power mike or amplified mike, or run the mike gain up as necessary. That way the factory circuit keeps overmodulation and splatter to a minimum and the audio is still strong.
Lots of ways to get a loud signal. The better ways are those that don't involve CB shop screwdriver-hackery, and that don't annoy the user on the next channel 5 miles away.Blaskowitz Thanks this. -
Limiters should always be left in. There truly is no good reason to remove them.Blaskowitz Thanks this. -
Well I can say first hand that wolfman cb shop will and does stand by their work.... As far as all the shops I've dealt with all over the east coast except for Florida mainly cause I wouldn't buy water there lol wolfman is by far the best!!!! Name one other shop that will check and set your swr for free.... Name one other shop that will give you your money back if your not please.... Name one other shop that will make house calls with in 75miles.... Name one other shop that doesn't advertise on the net or have a website that will come to an open forum to discuss issues.... I bet ya you can't!!! I've dealt with radioactive I've dealt with clays I've dealt with gijoes all are complete rip offs never dealt with ctb and have never seen anything bad about him I'd say he's probably okay.... But the rest of these folks ain't worth a flip.... But yeah wolfman swears by his coax me personally it's okay but k40 truckstop brand yeah no!!! If you want the best coax go with a microtimes cable or jefatech all made in America and both are major companies!!!!
Bigfoot 73sOPUS 7 Thanks this. -
Once again Wolfman shop came thru for me. Was having problems overheating a Polamar 600 that I purchased from them about 9 months ago. D-Rail let me trade it in on a new Fatboy Amp, at a great deal. He made the deal just to make sure I was a happy customer, as the problem I was having was in no way his fault. First Class Operation!!!!!!!!!!!
