Just a quick question, I just bought a General Lee radio and I'm wondering...will I need to do anything for the SWR's. My current setup is a Uniden PC78 and I'm getting 2 on the SWR meter. Will that reading change when I put the General Lee in the truck?

SWR wont change with just switching radios, but if you have a SWR of 2.0, I think I would try and change it to a lower reading...You'll need to adjust the antenna to do that...

Jesse, I've adjusted the antenna and 2 is as low as I can get her. Anything else I can do?

Either move it to a different mounting location or try a different antenna...

Not knowing anything else about your set-up, I'm leaning toward just moving the antenna higher, and having it placed so it's not right up next to the Cab or Stacks, or anything else, will probably fix the problem.

you know channel jumper, I'm glad you have a phd in cb's but everytime I come to one of your posts I skip right over it. Because you get way too technical for the average cb operator out here, so if you condensed/simplified some of your replies it might make more sense to the simple minded average joe just asking a simple question. just my .005 worth on the subject.

I'm with jessie, need to move the antenna or try a different ant, might provide a few more details about the ant setup so we can help determine what the best route would be.

Antenna is a Wilson 2000...it is mounted on the stock antenna mount on my Volvo VNL, and the original coax was replaced by a reputable radio shop. I reckon I'll get one of those bird perches I've been hearing about.

I would definitely try the bird perch, most common thing to fix poor grounding on a volvo, put it where 1 of the upper mirror mount bolts are and that just might bring the swr down to a reasonable 1.2-1.5. you might also have to adj the whip up/down once you move it to the perch to get a lower swr.
