Ok, I am a CB virgin. There, with that said I will be headed for training at Conway (hopefully) in a couple weeks and have purchased a new Cobra 29 XL. Will you guys advise me as to "Peak & Tuning"? Is it something I need to have done? What will it do for me? Sounds kind of like putting a high performance chip in a factory (de-tuned) V-8. So is it something I will want to have done?
Thanks
Peak & Tune?

A basic tune (adjust the power and modulation internally) and a decent microphone will do that radio wonders. App. 30-40% increase in output modulation and up to 100% increase in peak talk power. Do not let whichever shop remove or cut anything from the radio, nor let them talk you into any "big finals, mosfet finals" etc.

whats wrong with bigger/mosfet finals? I love my irf 520 mosfet finals in my cobra 29. -
Ya, there we go again, same old argument. What's right with it?

Conway??????? A good tech ain't easy to find these days. Be careful who you let take the covers off your radio. If you are going to run stock antenna(s) and coax, I wouldn't waste my money on a peak & tune.
Big_m Thanks this. -
Take the truck and let the tech tune the whole setup..

I agree ^ but what is wrong with them? I'm not a rookie at this so no chance in frying them, but what in your opinion would money be better spent and what is wrong with mosfet finals? simple question, I thought.
