If you are truly interested, FCC actions and Notices Of Apparent Liability (NAL) are a matter of public record and can be searched through at the FCC website. Also, some magazines like Popular Communications also list enforcements.

The average CB- trucker- with a turned up radio usually doesn't need to worry much about enforcement- too many of these and not enough enforcement. But it could happen- lighting does strike. And enforcement happens to hams as well- more rare but we have our share of bozos to.

Who you calling "bozos"??? I mean it looks like you said any trucker that doesn't run a strictly legal CB is a "bozo"! And you said it on a trucker forum!!! :biggrin_25511:

I was at a hamfest this weekend where a lot of CBers had illegal amps and modified "10 Meter" radios. Someone drove thru the flea market with a white Dodge van with 6 antennas and "FCC" marked on the rear! It scared the **** out of a bunch of 'em! A couple started trying to hide their stuff! :biggrin_2559: It was FUNNY! Everybody, except a few of the CB guys, knows FCC doesn't use "white vans" anymore! They can be anything from a Crown Vic to a Tahoe with NO visible antennas. It was nothing but a joke, but I bet it caused a couple of palpitating hearts! LMAO!

When I first moved from Noo Joisey (with my WB2 call) to Bareflanks, Alaska, in 1972 I had a new-ish VW bus with a Hustler RM-series mount on the front bumper, VHF and UHF quarter wave antennas along the midline (U43GGT and similar UHF mobile that helped keep the van warm). The 2 meter radio was only 2 channels, which was OK because everyone was either on the open 34/94 machine or 94 simplex. No UHF machines, so just the national standard simplex channel for that radio.
The most interesting feature of the vehicle as seen from the outside was a Saturn 6 halo mounted to a car top carrier, to my trusty (OK, not so trusty) Lafayette 6 meter AM mobile (vibrator supply). I had an 11 meter resonator on the Hustler mast and my old JC Penney Pinto 23 mobile. I was only in town for about 12 hours before I started hearing the word spread on all the channels -- the FCC was in town, and this time they were using a red VW bus for their direction finding vehicle. It had been spotted several times, parked outside the Fairbanks PD, which wasn't that much of a surprise because that's where I was working.
But since it was a new town for me, I *did* spend a lot of time looking around the town with a map, marking landmarks, and from the quasi-frantic calls on the CB, making all kinds of folks nervous.
Really, all I was doing was learning my way around in a new city before I'd have to be able to. Fairbanks seemed to pave moose trails and then put up street signs, rather than lay out streets with any sense of order, so it was time well spent.
And, as it turned out, kinda fun, too.
Ahhh....sometimes I crack myself up. It comes from being a legend in my own mind, I guess.

I am a trucker, a ham, and I have a Cb so what is your problem with me posting here? And regardless of your sensitivities, bozos exist. Whether ham, trucker, cber, 4 wheeler, or President- bozos exist. Deal with it.
