Yeah, the F.C.C. is just a big joke, till they are standing in front of you, writing you a hefty fine, and confiscating your jacked-up radio.
They nailed a base station about 2 years ago, in Philadelphia. Got all sorts of illegal stuff. Most of it wasn't his. Now he has a huge fine to pay, plus needs to explain to his friends where their radios went. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, just thinking about this loser getting bent over a barrel.
The "F" in FCC stands for "Federal". Once a federal agency has you on their radar, it's going to stink to be you, for a long time to come. Now that their whale, Howard Stern, can't be fined for what he says on radio, they have to start going after smaller fish. Sure, most people get away with everything they do, but if you do get caught, you're going to wish you never bought a CB. -
Guys who run radios pushing 10 or 12 watts on AM, or 25 to 40 watts on SSB, are not the guys I am talking about. I am talking about the ####### sitting in his truck, with his amp, pushing 200 watts, playing with all those retarded noise makers. -
Do you know who this person is ?

Again....don't give a ####. I dont have a base station..cant stand base station guys. Only thing they could possibly find is my 165 watt mobile...you know, the one that bleeds all over the band, other peoples rv's and radios, opens and closes random garage doors, interrupts polive two-way radio calls with my late night "wheres all the fat girls?" calls. Im sure even if i think about it, its possible i have shut off a pace maker or two. NO...the 165 watt radio that doesnt interfere with ANYTHING OR ANYBODY, its mobile use would make it extremely hard to find, and even LESS HARMFUL. I have zero business on their "watch list", to get to that point I have to be causing MUCHO interference...the police that pull me over for 5 over dont know what I am talking on, nor do they have any reason to want to get the fcc involved in their traffic stop. The fcc has bigger fish to fry, you guys sure do turn into narrow minded bigots when somebody mentions using a 10m radio...as if NONE OF YOU have ever broken a law???4 watts nowadays will make it about impoaaible in big cities to get info, help if broken down etc.
mike5511 Thanks this. -
I know what you mean about the misuse of it. The ONLY reason i bought a bigger radio, was so I could be heard if i needed help/directions/traffic info etc. In Houston and Dallas, etc. We used to take a lot of liquid fertilizer down through there, and a lot of the places I went to involved turning off on 2-lane gravel "roads" and going back 15 or so miles late at night. A lot of the places I wouldnt have cell service, so I wanted to make sure if something happened I could have communication. If the really BIG radios didnt tie up the airwaves like they do now, with 10yr old antics, it wouldnt have been an issue to use smaller radios. In all honesty, most of the time, i only used about 30 watts, very rarely would I run it wide open, BUT....if it wasnt for those darn bridges and trees that would knock a 30ft tall antenna off my truxk, i probably could have had decent luck with a barefoot cobra 29 lol.
Im out of a truck now, have been for awhile, and I have sold all my radio stuff. I really enjoyed shooting skip, and making contacts all over the us. I'd like another radio, 30-40 watts to use in my pickup when i drag my car all over once racing season hits next year. -
