Would this be a good upgrade to the antenna system for 100 watt setup?
I have noticed it looks thicker than the common coax.
Also is it very flexible?
Sending my Galaxy 44 off to be repaired and will keep as a backup.
Ordered a Galaxy DX94HP to put in the truck.
Thought you HAM guys would know...thanks!

It's not very flexible. You can bend it but once bent it stays in shape until you bend it again. Think of it being as flexible as house wiring. Also LMR-400 is almost 1/2 inch thick.
A like coax that is somewhat flexible but is every bit as good as the LMR-400, is the LMR-400UF. The UF stands for "ultra-flex" and it is stranded wire, unlike the LMR-400 which is a solid wire. It's the same size as LMR-400 but the sheathing is more rubberized.
As for "would it be good for a 100 watt set up", the answer is: yes.EZ Money Thanks this. -
Thanks,I did see the Ultra Flex and was wondering about it also.
They both are sold in odd lengths,15ft 25ft,ect...
I plan on installing the new radio the right way.No pinching coax in doors or anywhere else.
I have a new Wilson 2000,New RK-56 mic and still need the power wires from the battery.
Thinking at least 8 awg for the power wiring on a 50 amp fuse. -
This looks like the good stuff here,

I can tell you that it is a good radio I have a 94 hp also and am very happy with it.

The LMR is good coax but it is overkill in most mobile applications.

More info than you would ever want to know. Like Mad Dog stated, "overkill" BUT, I used the same type when re-doing my Wilson 5K and am very happy with the results. The way I see it, if you are gonna do it, go a little over board so you know you have some of the best.
I ran 6 Ga. from the battery with a 50amp on both Pos. & Neg. The above web site suggested the extra protection. Yea, there is a ton on debate on which coax, the "proper length", wire size, etc. .Study up on the site and do what makes you happy.EZ Money Thanks this. -
LMR400 will be a ###### to run in a mobile, and is serious overkill for what you are doing. LMR240 Ultra is a lot more suitable. It'll handle 1000W+, and in the lengths used mobile, the difference in loss is negligible. (Plus it's a LOT cheaper.)
Even at home, I'd use 240 for anything under about 100 feet.
15', 25', 50' are standard lengths. 18' is an "odd length"...EZ Money Thanks this.
