How's the radio working for you and have you managed any contacts on SSB
-
I know its an old thread but a Stryker 655 does not do 85 to 90 pep watts barefoot unless you volt the heck out of it and shorten the lifespan. That radio should have an out of box carrier of 15 watts and pep swing 60 to maybe 70 watts, some of these assesments of radio power are as bad as old men and their fish stories.
rabbiporkchop and stacks Thank this. -
And all you guys recommending the 655 over the 955 for those who don't do SSB...wrong. Get the 955 anyway. The 655's receiver isn't as good as the 955's.
darthanubis Thanks this. -
I almost bought the 955 for my personal vehicle bought the Galaxy 99v2 instead, 10 watt carrier 40 watt swing vs 15 watt carrier 60 watt swing not big difference for barefoot local communication. The person I buy from uses the 955 on his base station and its sounds really good. Ive been able to make some good ssb ( lsb 38) contacts during skip with my bearcat 980 in my big truck, it is fun and helps pass time when job requires periods of sitting.
darthanubis and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
