29 LX won't power on.

    Ok have a Cobra 29LX LCD that won't power on. I'm trying to troubleshoot it myself because I don't have a cb shop near and I drive local. Soooooo, any ideas where I should start looking on the board?

    The power supply and fuses are working fine, I have another radio (148) that I hook to the same truck.

    There could be a few things that would be a power problem. But let's go through a few questions to get an idea what it can be.

    1 - did you hook up the other radio with the same power cord?

    2 - did the radio ever get hooked up backwards - meaning black to the positive and the red to the negative?

    3 - was the radio ever dropped?

    1 - Yes.

    2 - Nope.

    3. Nope.

    I took the radio out one weekend for truck service, hooked it up again on a Monday and it wouldn't power. It's been a while but I seem to remember changing the fuse after that.

    Well I clipped the diode at d23 and soldered the path that burned on the other side. Powers on now I need to replace the diode. Looks like I reversed polarity when plugging it in.
