Been driving a new pete glider with a 12.7 Detroit for 2 weeks now. Today I was talking on my Ranger (not sure of the number, big chrome one 683??? something?) and something is causing my boost to drop to 2 when under fuel. not sure what is going on. I can have 30 psi of boost then as soon as I key up it drops to 0 and of course causes a major power loss in the engine. any ideas??????? thanks!
CB killing turbo boost??????

Bad installation....make sure your power is coming from the battery, not pick a wire. run it to the battery, fuse it at the battery. Ground it to the frame .
-
that's what I was thinking, but why did it just start today out of the blue and not when it was installed in the truck? that to me is the confusing part
-
Wires might have rubbed the insulation off and you could be grounding out is my thought
-
Pick a positive battery post that doesn't have a lot of other electrical wires running from it had same problem when I hooked up my connex 4600
-
I agree on a wiring problem. Either using factory hot and ground connection and your radio pulling enough amps to "steal" amps that should be going to engine computer. Really can't imagine that radio pulling that> Hot to battery and ground to frame, only way to go.
-
Well it is def something in the radio. Picked up a cobra 29 the other day and no longer having any problems. Now I just need to find a good shop to check the ranger out......

First off I am thinking that the radio is on the dash, if this is right, then the coax may be run in such a way that it is coming close to the bulkhead connector or wiring that goes to the ECM.
Second the coax may be leaky, it happens and the only real way to figure that out is to replace it OR you are using the factory coax which it has a splitter for the am/fm and so on. Either way, replacing it may be a good idea.
Third the radio was "peaked" or tuned up wrong, which a good proper tune up would help. -
Ridgeline, thanks for pondering on this. The radio is mounted on the ceiling, and is using stock coax. The truck does have a separate antenna for the am/fm. I have had this radio for about 8 years and it was setup the day I bought it (hasn't been touched since then), and haven't had a minutes problem with it until now. I understand that wiring directly to the battery and a chassis ground is the best, but I have ran this particular radio in multiple trucks off of the stock radio posts. I am beginning to think that something has let loose in the radio itself. its just kinda odd that it started all of sudden after being in this truck for a couple of weeks and is not blowing any fuses.

maybe a good tune up would help
OH I forgot something, did you try to filter the dc from the radio. What I mean is to put some ferrite beads on the power lines to filter the RF out of the radio. I know this may not make sense but I remember something about doing that to help with an rf problem.
