That's a great story as well as tribute to dad. I can and do appreciate heirlooms as well as good radios.
Thank you for sharing. A great read. -
Awesome story! Thank you for sharing. I carry a necklace with my father's finger print on it with me everywhere I go. I truly understand the sentiment in this story.

I have an uncle who more like my grandpa age rise and etc, we would play the guitar and banjo just something to do, my aunt never could play an instrument but asked if i could play a song at my uncle funeral, i was never good at reading music, I had to use Google and you-tube. if i hear the song a time of two i can play it decent, in my uncle will was the guitar and banjo go to me there is no real value in them but more of history. The morel of the story is does not matter how much an item is in value its something that is left behind its the true story of the item. last week i was in music store/ pawn shop and you can buy a pretty decent guitar for less than 150 is high end no electronic. needs to warm up around here because i could go outside right know and play on the side of the of the old pond bank. lol

That's a awesome story, thanks for posting, I lost my dad a couple years back, and can relate to this story, on my home time, my dad and I would go golfing, I now have his clubs, but every time. I try and use them, I find it to hard to hold the tears back, as I'm typing this the emotions are building, my dad was my best friend.
If your dad's are still with you? Next time you see them, make sure to thank them for being therefredgar_jr Thanks this. -

My first CB was an old (older than me, anyways) Royce 23 channel radio my grandfather pulled out of his truck when 40 channel radios hit the market. It was handed down to my dad for use on scout trips...remember one place we stopped us kids were talking back and forth between the vehicles while the adults were inside the store picking up some supplies. Well, the first time we keyed up the old CB to respond to what the kids in the other vehicle had said, we discovered the old CB was somehow broadcasting over the store's PA. "Blue light special in aisle 3"...we had a little fun with that until the adults came out & made us stop.
Anyway, when I started driving trucks, dad passed the old CB on to me...and I used it until some low-life broke into the truck and took it...a "worthless" old radio that probably wouldn't have fetched $10 at a pawn shop but meant the world to me. Since then, my only thought is that the only good thief is a dead thief, and I'd gladly serve time behind bars knowing I ended a thief's career if I ever caught one in the act, and I don't buy anything "used" unless I'm 100% sure it is a legitimate sale because I want no part in helping a thief profit from his thoughtless act. Nothing worse in this world than a thief...except perhaps a child molester... -
Wow, talk about getting choked up reading. I was hoping it would turn out like it did. Thanks a million for sharing.
