Would anyone , out there have any idea what radio is the best value , $ for $ , I keep hear'in much of all the brands , Galaxy , Connex , Ranger , The
Cobra-29 , the Generel Lee , Northstar , and , The cobra-148 . What is the best CB , in lets say ,.....in the price range of , $200.00 + , $ for $ . Also, do you always have to get them "tuned" to maximize there performance ???
thanx in advance for any councel , "RED"Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
No peak and tune needed.
I'm about to buy another. It will be the S-45 model. I've seen an alternate version at a couple of shops. Most don't carry them at all. I'll be ordering mine direct from the factory to issure I get the real deal.
To the original thread poster: The radio shop at exit 163 on I-40 TN is about the best I've found.
The worst... The CB shop at the TA truck stop in Knoxville. I took 2 differant radios in with the same problem on differant days. Both times I was informed "they" could not fix it. It would have to be returned to the factory. aka...sell that driver a new radio push.
I had both repaired at the exit 163 shop. Both had bad mic cords. Even though the shop at the TA had a meter that showed nothing to be wrong with the mic.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

I always get the two mixed up.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
When I found them they were on E. Airport road just past I 15. A couple of years ago they moved up behind the West side TA. The owner who I really like is doing satellites and such but, the guy in there is named Chris. He's pretty sharp. He told me he helped with the design of the Magnums. I don't have one so that didn't interest me.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I'm headed thru Salt Lake City & Albuquerque tomorrow and wondered if there are any good CB shops in SLC. I'm specifically looking to purchase a Uniden BCD396t Scanner on the downlow. The wife would kill me. Thanks!

yes, yes i know nobody likes a radio shack product, but their "radio shack tripple trunking 1000 channel" scanner is a nice one and similar, not the same... if im not mistaken i think radio shack radios are uniden radios... i think i heard that while back, could be getting a couple things confused though. (computer software makes scanners easier to program if your gonna do it...)
