OK good with the bad. Docs radio in Buffalo. GREAT guy. He talked me out of spending money on modding my virgin Cobra 2000. He convinced me that since it was good radio and becoming rare I should enjoy as is. I can at a bare minimum say he is NOT a money hungry hack.

think its good to put it out their about the bad shops..I heard good things about a Dr Duck in colorado.. No close shops in nj where i live so I sent it to him.. I just am a little angry about some older comments people made on another site.. I don't think that people have the right to pass judgement on someone based on their home, clothes or the vehicle they drive....I'm having financial struggles but paid 29.00 to sent my radio 2000 miles away because of compliments on here about him.. I will eat peanut butter this week to have
enough to pay to fix my radio cause I enjoy conversations on the road...I would not like to be judged.... keep the black list up to date save someone a headache because its
the right thing to do..Can I suggest the good list be posted also

Anybody can piss talk a cb shop, I'd be far more interested in shops that have a good reputation among drivers than a bad one, because as far as I'm concerned they all have a bad one unless there is proof otherwise.

The man in the Petro on 59 x 181 gadsden is good.... i have learned ALOT by just opening up my ears...you can walk in, ask him to "turn you radio up" he will tell you what you need to do vs what you want him to do...if your ignorant, he will gladly take your money and do it, but if you listen you will get the most out of your radio that he can humanly get. He always give me more information than my brain can handle, but in the end it makes my little cobra sound awesome...i dont need to talk to someone 1000 miles down the road, unless i want to talk skip, but 4 miles down the road works for me, cause i dont care about that scale house that im 2 hours away from, alot can happen in that time. Just remember, while you think your radio might need all the work, good coax and a good antenna go along way, because lets face it, a radio is worthless with out an antenna. my just .02

Your missing the main part of the business experience, the business made sure you were happy and they took care of all your problems, 90 percent of cb shops today, once you leave with a radio and it should have a problem, if it,s new they send it back to the manufacture for repair under warranty and it takes weeks to get it returned, if the radio is used once it leaves the shop it,s on you if it breaks. At least this shop tried to take care of all your disappointments.

I got a Cobra 29 LX peaked and tuned at the Petro in New Paris, OH. Ran good for several months. No complaints from anyone I was talking too, then it blew the fuse on the power cord, and would blow them the second I'd replace and power back up. I'm on a dedicated run and got a little desperate. Only place I could find between Kansas City and St Louis is a lady in Kingdom City, MO, running out of a motel room in the Super 8. She looked at it and said she didn't know what all the guy did to it. But it was heating up fast in some areas and she turned it off. Said I was better off taking it back to him.

Ended up buying a peaked and tuned Cobra 29 classic off her for $50. Units dirty, and needs some parts and cleaning, but it beats a bone stock 29 classic for $120 at the pilot. Unit seems to be getting out there. Everyone I have talked to said it sounds fine, but the volume knob is crackling when turned, and the CAL and SWR meter aren't working. I was going to clean it up a bit and she offered to throw another meter in it free of charge. But, she didn't have the parts?? I'll run it another week, and stop back by there to offer her the opportunity to stay good on her word.
