I concur. For those of us driving in the RDU area locally, it was the only CB within feasible distance, and I know a lot of local drivers who had their equipment screwed up there.
    Yes, he is still there.

CB shop on I 65 exit 240 in Indiana at the flying hook.
Took my galaxy 959 to him to have it peaked and tuned, put it back in the truck and found it sounded like crap and the recieve was bad, ended up sending it to custom cb radios to have it redone and a few more upgrades done to it. They asked who did the work the first time and told me he did a really harsh tune on it, not sure what that means as I don't have the technical back ground.

Bonnie and Clyde CB in Dallas, TX. They claimed to be giving me a great price on a noise canceling mike for $59, but I found out it is $9 wholesale in lots of 4, and $29 from an online vendor.

Ok the mike works as well as the original one (which died) but I still feel cheated. Just watch your wallet in there, if the guy tells you how you are getting such a good deal, a special deal just for you on that day, he may be fibbing.

They got no tech any more, not sure who fixes the radios; maybe they send them out or a guy comes in a couple times a week.

and yes, for the record, the same CB shop is still at the 369 in Knoxville at the T/A. i went in there looking for a radio and he had what i was looking for, but i was not going to pay over $300 for a used Galaxy 88. he had the Galaxy 99 also for $450 used.

what a criminal. i left with the remark of you have a nice day. i still have all my money. i promptly went out in the parking lot and bought a radio off another driver which i in turn traded for the radio that i originally wanted that my brother had that needed a 10 dollar cold solder joint repair.

my favorite are the CB shops that advertise the Astatic 636 for only 59 bucks, when they can be bought in mass new for 19 bucks each off fleabay.

REMEMBER THE FCC DOES NOT REQUIRE A GROL TO REPAIR RADIOS
AND LOCAL GOVERMENTS HAVE NO CONTROL OF RADIO REPAIROR
    SELLING PRICE.

So you don't have protection outside of bad mouthing them
You can thank the radio dealers in the early 80's for this mess ...

Well I can tell you where to get HIGH QUALITY CB work done that I personally would guarantee, but then that would be advertising and I would probably get banned after only my second post!!! There is no doubt more tweaknicians than technicians out there these days. CB isn't what it used to be..........that's too bad IMO.

Cadillacdude1975 I agree with you....HOWEVER as I have learned, the truck stop mark ups are for when your radio/equipment dies OTR and you need a new one...quick! Same with truck stop CB shops.

Otherwise, yes it's best to buy them cheaper online. And if your radio needs repair if you can wait to get home, it's better to take it to someone who's gonna take the time to do it right, not just get you in and out the door in 10 minutes after dipping into your wallet.

Should just call those truck stop hack techs "Jiffy radio hacks". :biggrin_2559:

So what exactly is the criteria that puts a shop on the blacklist and who determines it ??

Suppose some know it all truck driver thinks he got jobbed when he really didn't and now one mans reputation gets trashed and business gets blacklisted ?? All this is, is hearsay and opinion hardly scientific..

No criteria so opinions are just like diapers. Some stink and many are full of manure!
