Good to know!

Hmmmm....in an, ummm...alcohol related incident..I dropped my very expensive Nokia into the toilet bowl; well actually I some managed to launch it from the doorway and it gracefully spiralled in. I immediately retrieved it from the (unused, thankgod) bowl, removed the battery and put it next to the hot water cylinder and forgot all about it. My insurance company, while somewhat bemused, replaced my phone without question. Six months later I came across the water damaged phone, turned it on and hey presto...still works.
So two lessons, either buy a Nokia or DONT take your phone to the bathroom!Baack Thanks this. -
My brother has had his kids get their cell phones soaked in every way. He puts them into a box of rice to dry them out. it has worked very well on Motorola razors and a few others. samsung not so good. I think it is just pot luck some times. if I was to drop mine in a lot of truck stop rest rooms I would just flush.
Baack Thanks this. -
I put a razr through a real test. I once dropped it into a bucket of water, dried it off as best I could, then let it air dry. Kept on ticking.
Not long after, it fell out of my pocket in a cattle pen during the winter, and was run over by our articulated payloader. Tire lug caught it dead on. Wrecked the outer screen and left the image of the rubber from the keypad on the inner screen. Cleaned it up some, had to charge it, and it still worked for a good while. Got glitchy though.
All accidentally I might add. Motorola units are pretty robust. Still have the phone, just replaced it with a blackberry. -

I have been scared a few times, loading in the rain my phone is submersed in my 100% soaked pocket, and always been good.

Well, (so far anyhow,) I've never dropped my cell in the toilet. However, that bucket of paint REALLY did a number on it...
Oh yeah, running over them with the steer tire is not real good on them either... -
Alchohol works on internal computer components, as well. 3D Accelerator cards, sound boards, etc. Because it's non-conductive (unlike water) and will absorb water and so fourth.
However, it's recommended that for this type of use you use 100% and not the typical 80% "Rubbing" variety that you would find in a store, that stuff i believe is 80% alchohol, and 20% water. I THINK, it's been a while since I've looked around at this, but i do agree that it DOES work.
Great post, and thanks! -
my wifes daughters phone did that, HAHA fell in the toilet
