Baaaah. These #### long unloads/loading are eating into my time. Unloaded in Grand Rapids around 1230 and got a load picking up in Kalamazoo heading to Beech Island, SC. A pretty good run but I have been sitting here for 2 hours and the fork lifts haven't entered the truck as of yet. Was hoping to get some good miles today but it looks like it isn't going to happen.

If we are late, they won't load or unload us. We are on time and the load is not ready, no big deal, the driver can just wait... Was in a grocery warehouse a few months ago signed it at the guard house 15 minutes before my appointment, went and parked in the holding area, went inside with my paperwork, waited in line for 45 minutes, for someone to tell me they were "shorthanded" today, and just be patient and we will get to you. I went out to my truck to wait another 4 hours before getting called to a door, another 1 and a half hours unloading a straight pull off... Six hours from sign in to sign out. When I asked what the problem was, I was told that 2 people called off that day, and I asked what about the 4 people sitting in the office doing nothing the entire time I was waiting to get unloaded... No concern for the driver, heck most places don't even have a bathroom that we are allowed to use...

About done I think. Got a message that the load doesn't have to be there when stated (good to know) so I have some leeway and will need it as I will be hitting several back roads along the way.

I don't miss bumping docks at all! I've noticed that if you are in a shipper/consignee and they are sitting behind some sort of window, you can almost guarantee you're getting treated like crap. If you are in an office with them or if its and deal where they come out to you, they tend to be much nicer. I guess they think that someone wont snap one day and pull them through that window they hide behind.

This also applies to dispatch too. The worst people I've ever worked for were the ones where drivers had to cram in a little foyer area at the window, and were not allowed in the office.

Sitting just a little north of Spartanburg after a solid 9 hours of driving. Decided to stop a little early to take a much needed shower and there wasn't much in the way of enticing parking further down the line. Still about 3 hours away from customer. Looks like a huge plant with lots of trailers parked so hopefully a quick drop and hook tomorrow morning.

Sounds like typical stuff. I'm interested in hearing your take on things after a month or so. Miles steady? How dispatch works. How's routing done? Do you fuel where they tell you? You know things we love at the other red company.
how large is Crete? How's the equipment? How many trucks do they have rolling? Just overall interested.
    Did you start at 42cpm?
    Keep er safe!

Hahaha, somethings you just can't seem to escape:biggrin_2559: Running pretty well but hit a snag here in Greenwood, SC at the Tyco plant that Roehl also picks up out of. My load won't be ready until late this afternoon while two loads are sitting ready to go. One to Grapevine, TX near our drop yard in Wilmer, TX. If they would give me that load it would run my hours out complete so I could do a reset at the yard (the load doesn't deliver until later in the week so no one has been dispatched on it). Instead I have ran about 4.5 hours today and am through because my day ends at 1800 and the load won't be ready before then. Just got a message back from dispatch regarding above loads and let's just say it doesn't make any sense, very Roehl weekend like:biggrin_25512:

Dispatch is regional so you will have different dispatchers depending on the area you are in. (Supposedly this is going to end and go back to single dispatchers in a month or two).

Routing and fueling is pretty much the same as Roehl's.

I think they have 5-6K trucks and about 10K trailers. All of the trailers have been very good thus far (about 8-10 that I have hooked to).

My truck is pretty nice, no complaints there as of yet. Has battery powered apu so still no big inverter to power fridge, microwave etc.

Starting pay for 1 yr exp. is 0.41 OTR, around 0.37 for regional/home weekly fleet.

So all in all pretty similar thus far in regard to everything but pay which is the main reason I moved.

    hindsy and MaLsR Thank this.

Not going to be a bad first full week out but could have been another 350 or so miles added on with a little cooperation and a chance to do a reset. Now I will only have 5 or so hours after I deliver on Monday but will make the most of it.

I will include the finishing up trip that I took from Kingstown back to the house to to get it all in.

July 15-18 Kingstown, PA -- Garner, NC --- 471 miles

    First full week
July 18-19 Garner, NC -- Cary, NC -- Memphis, TN --- 767 miles
July 19-20 Memphis, TN -- Minooka, IL --- 507 miles
July 20-21 Minooka, IL -- Gridley, IL -- Grand Rapids, MI --- 340 miles
July 21-23 Grand Rapids, MI -- Kalamazoo, MI -- Beech Island, SC --- 912 miles
July 23-25 Beech Island, SC -- Greenwood, SC -- Memphis, TN --- 598
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Total miles = 3124 + 471 orientation load

If I can keep knocking out 3K mile weeks not going to be complaining much:)

    Just a fyi ,
For pay purposes only those loads scanned in before midnight on friday will be in the following thursdays check.
As for routing its only a suggestion , you don't have to follow it BUT you must follow the fueling locations (you can skip them but you can't choose which location to fuel at).

The Challenger, hindsy and Jayhawker Thank this.

Ive been with crete for 1 1/2 yrs. I average about 2500miles but im on RDO12, which means im home every 12 days for 2 days. Good company , very short time between empty call and a load offering.
