Thanks gravdigr for all of the info.

So the fuel discount is around .30 and you ended up with a decent truck. Looks good so far I think I will wait and see how your first two weeks go!

    Thanks

I don't feel like I'm under anyones thumb. And I had an agent call me and offer me a load from the same town I deliver in to pittsburgh area for $2.47/mi to the truck (359mi) very little deadhead. I'll take those loads all day long.

I look at it this way. I could stay a company driver taking home $700-$1,000/week (under a companies thumb) and be home 3-4 days a month and save for 3-5 years to buy a truck. Or I can work here taking home $1,000-$2,000/wk while running a truck I am eventually going to own with the freedom to be home every weekend if I choose, no qualcom bothering me, no dispatcher tracking my every move asking me why I'm not rolling as I still have 6 hours drive time (I just strapped and tarped my first load, I'm effing tired).

    Travelinman Thanks this.

Oh, and I generally try not to take anything less than $2/mile unless it's a special circumstance. This load for example is only $1.50/mi because of the 200mi deadhead plus some out of route because I am taking it home for the weekend. You will average $2/mi here. some loads will be $2.50/mi, some may be $1.50/mi.

spacetrucker88 I have to go to Lewistown Pa. on Sundayfor orientation for Landstar are you familiar with that area and if so what is the best way to get there? Mapquest gives Warfordsburg as one route and Cearfoss Md. as another.

Have you delivered a load yet?

Come back in 6 months or a year and tell us how great your doing! Right now it's all hyperbole.

Indeed, and unless you have done the lease purchase with CRST you really can't tell me how bad I'm going to do either.

You're right cause you'd NEVER catch me doing a fleece purchase! I have more business acumen than to fall for that scam.

The thousands of failed CRST fleece purchase before you speak volumes. But you're smarter than all of them and you're gonna show us.

    Good luck....
