Any hints at how I can increase my chances of a job offer to drive reefers for Roehl?

I'm a student driver starting driving school at a community college on Monday, 28 Nov. I'll graduate 23 Dec.

I have a clean background - no criminal history.

Only one ticket in the past 5 years. Speeding on my motorcycle - 85 in a 70 zone issued 26 Dec 2008. I'm told that it should "drop off" by 26 Dec this year.

    No accidents ever.

I've passed the Tanker, Doubles and Triples, and Hazmat endorsement tests in addition to all of the standard CDL permit tests. Hoping the Hazmat background check will be complete by the time I graduate.

If so, I'll have a CDL with Tanker, Doubles and Triples and Hazmat endorsements at graduation.

My passport is being renewed now and I should have a current passport in hand by graduation.

Only credentials that I know of that I'll be lacking is a TWIC and FAST. TWIC should be easy after Hazmat background check is completed/reported and Hazmat endorsement granted. I'll have to travel a couple hours from my home to get a TWIC card, or I would have already applied. But I found out that the background checks are the same for both TWIC and Hazmat, so I'm waiting for the Hazmat to come back so I can same a little time/money on the TWIC.

I have submitted an application via the Roehl website and have forwarded an Affidavit of Self-employment/Unemployment, along with a copy of my DD214 (to prove veteran status) and resume.

What more can I do/provide to them to increase my chances of an offer from them?

too bad you didnt cal them first, wth your dd214 they would have given you free training and your cdl. they are a good training company but once you get your 1 yr exp in. go look for a better job and make more money. in all words- roehl really sucks. they are justlike swift and most of all the other training companies out there. get your training and buy your own trk to make the money and have the freedom. dont ever do a lease purchase frm 9% of the companies as they make money from it. go to a dealership and get more for yur money and more respect. screw roehl except for the training... look at the other posts about roehl and make your own choice.:biggrin_25523:

TWIC and HAZ-MAT use the same background check company, but one will not have any bearing on the other, and it won't make a difference on the outcome. Each application is handled seperately by a different reviewer and any issues that may come up, will postspone each one seperately and will have to be appealed. Had a TWIC for 2 years when I got my Haz-mat and it was still delayed.

    Thanks for your comments!

Well, it turns out that they won't hire me because I have had a long period of unemployment. Stupid rule, but it's their rule, so there's nothing I can do about that.

As for the free training for vets, I think that program is for those who have been recently discharged and I don't fall into that category.

Oh well, it's working out better for me anyway. I went to a community college and I now have 7 "hiring approvals" from other good companies. It's good to have options. :biggrin_25525:

Roehl did tell me to reapply once I have 6 months experience. But that'll probably not happen. Maybe all of this happening as it did is God's way of trying to keep me from working for stupid people. :biggrin_2559:

    Happy holidays everyone!!

I see. Thanks for your comments.

I have my TSA letter in hand now from my Hazmat background check, as well as the Hazmat endorsement on my CDL, so even if it doesn't speed things up, at least that will save me $27 or so on the TWIC.

Thanks. But if your post was directed at me, it's unlikely that I'll wind up at Roehl, at least not anytime in the next few years.

    Happy Holidays!

It's a good thing you didn't end up at Roehl cause they are AWFUL!!!! They are equal to CR England and the other bottom of the barrel companies! Their insane rule about your work history proves what an idiotic company they are! They are a NIGHTMARE to work for! I"m glad you got SEVEN other offers to choose from!!! Rohel is the WORST!
