I work there now... I am more than willing to run run run and then run some more.. I leased a truck and after the last 90 days with them and in my truck ( i leased it 9/30/11) i've been in the shop more than on the road.. I've been in the hole more than i've made a paycheck... I can tell you that when a man wants to run and says i don't need to be home all the time stretch my legs out all i get is pretty much the same 4 states and they call that otr driving... I want to run, i want a truck that runs more than its in the shop.. With that being said swift said that they refuse to stand behind there warranty and have done all that they are willing to do but yet my truck is still having problems.. Not sure why they are called mechanics when all they are, are glorified oil changers and tire thumpers... I have friends that do well with this company but most of us are starving and looking to go elsewhere... I just wonder in this time of our economy are all companies doing this bad or just swift???? I can tell you as an o/o all i was given last week was 1202 miles... Pretty sad and when you bring it up all you get is its bad everywhere or we are 1500 loads light for the number of drivers that we have but yet i see our trailers going up and down the road under different carriers, can't take care of our own but sure can phatten the pockets of other companies.. I guess my question is this.. I have just over 6 months OTR and I'm looking to go else where but would like to either stay an owner or lease another truck when I get to another company.. Can anyone recommend companies for me to look into????

Just a suggestion maybe............. try at least a year as a "company driver" kinda get to know the company that your are going to work for...........and kinda get to know their seasonal changes, freight lanes, their overall way of doing things. At six months you are still learning ALOT about the industry.

    Bambam,

Leasing works well for others. I would ask for a new DM who you can develop a new relationship with if you want to stay with Swift. As for others: At six months your options are limited for an o/o. You could contact Fed Ex CC or Panther if expediting interests you as teaming. If you wanna stay solo, I'd suggest going company driver at JBS carriers. They are reefer and will keep you busy. Another company you might try is Epes. I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions, pm me anytime.

You're a little confused . You are an L/O , not an O/O . If you were an O/O you could take your truck and go . That's not an option , is it ?

Turn in that truck asap and drive company. Check into any of the following companies for a decent job; Epes, Estes, R+L, Saia, Vitran, Old Dominion, Yellow, heck any ltl carrier for that matter. Frito Lay, Sherwin Williams, and Walmart are private carriers with top notch pay and benefits.

Give up on the BS mega carrier lease crap and get paid what you deserve.

He can't just turn the trk in. Swift is not a walk away lease. And yes swift will report it on your credit unless u talk to the l/o department and give em time to find another driver to sign your lease. Been here done this and have a trk on my credit. Good luck to you.

    RickG Thanks this.
