soon to be driver--choices, choices....which company to go with?
hi there,
i will be graduating from NETTS in august and would like to hear opinions on which company to go with.
i have pre-hires from Werner, USExpress, and Roehl. unfortunately HOWolding declined, they were to be my first choice. i will also apply to schneider once i'm about a month out, and expect to get a pre-hire from them as well.
anyways, the recruiters all sound like the jobs are cookies n ice cream with repect and opportunity
just hoping for some real world input from those who know.
about me, im middle aged with grown children. i rent an apartment right now, but will be downsizing at the end of july and will find a room rental. i plan on spending most of my time on the road as an OTR driver, in fact i'd rather stay out a bit long if it gets me 5-7 days home.
thanks in advance folks,

When it comes to Werner, loose their number, block them from calling your phone, get hypnotized to forget they exist or anything else that will prevent you from going to that company.
If you want to team with a stranger that lives in your area by all means go with USX.
Of the three you have right now I would say Roehl is the best choice. If Schneider works out I would say Schneider one Roehl two. If you have a buddy or significant other you want to team with then I'd still say Schneider one but USX number two.

The USX recruiter was extremely rude with me. So I "lost" their number. I was asking the standard questions (i.e. home time, equipment, etc) and finally just told me to shut up and stop asking questions and that I should use the website and apply. I asked her then what is the point of you calling me and asking me to give you a call. She said the just does that to keep her job. I asked what her name was cause I didn't understand the way she said it that way I could report her, but she refused to give her name again.

Roehl is a good company. Treat you decent, good starting pay and miles..Several hometime options. I recommend flatbed, thats what I do with them and love it.

yea, usx has been out of the running since the reqruiter said 8 weeks of team after training...no thanks, i have almost zero interest in team.
it was roehl first, took a day and a half, usx called about 12 hours after app was faxed, werner took about a day when i got around to applying.
thanks for the info folks, keep 'em coming please!

Says that you live in NH. This will lower the number of possible company's ALLOT. So really pay attention to what carriers you see running in your area. I believe that US express has some contracts in the area. I have known several of their drivers that liked it with them. I know western express has allot in that area, but they are not as well liked. NH is a bad area for outbound. Since the industry in the area is mostly lumber related. Or mulch. So Flatbed may be the better bet.

I am glad that you were treated good by the USX recruiter and I wish you the best of luck with them. My experience with them turned me off to them for good.
