Hi LMB, hope your day is going well, got a new question for you; how often do you see Freightliner Columbia’s in the yard and are they fairly common at JCT???

None, Zilch.....Lot's of Classic XL Models. They are starting to get the new Cascadias in. Great fuel milage. They have KW long nose and T-600, Pete long nose, International long nose, and the Classic. That will probably be the choice for a while.
My day is going pretty well, got loaded up the road from the house. Back home now. Will leave around 3am, got to be in Baton Rouge by 11pm Tuesday

What are the avg. length of haul for solo drivers? I can just imagine the teams run coast to coast, but do the solo's get good long runs also?
Aso would like to know what the break even mileage is for solo? (weekly).
Thanks and Drive Safe

Wow, Knighton5 has a fantastic question! I look forward to the answer on that one. I understand that some drivers have side notes and some drivers pay more or even less on the basic truck lease but in general, what would the average break even point or bracket when you or the average driver start making money? Knighton5 thanks for asking that very good question!

Also I understand LandShark will be starting on Jan/19th and I will be starting on Jan/26th so we should be able to send some good info about the orientation process.

LMB, of the trucks setting on the lot would say there are more newer or more older trucks available. Newer meaning 07's & 08's and older meaning 06's or older?

Suncoast,

Good luck with orientation and your new job! Thanks for offering to keep us posted throughout the process. Get your running shoes ready for the truck selection. Honestly, I don't know if I could handle that. I'd have to tell Mr. Christner that if I plan to make payments on a truck, I want to make damn sure I get the one I want.

But maybe it's not as bad as it sounds. After all, LMB got the one he wanted. I'll look forward to hearing how it goes for you guys.

Andrew

I do know for fact that they stocked up on 06 models in 05 and 06. They didn't want to buy any 07s with the new model engine until they were sure all the bugs were worked out.

There is a lot to take in to consideration for each individual. My break even point is 1900 miles. I didn't get started till Tuesday morn, and by Friday, I will have 3200 miles

I figured they had 07s and 08s by now. This was a couple years ago, I just assumed they still had a lot of 06s in the fleet because of what they were buying back in 06. They're probably out on the road though.
