How many of you out there use an internet card that you pay for from a cell phone service. I know people are using the whole Iphone and blackberry and stuff but I am not into those phones I like just a regular phone. I am about to get back onto the road and will be running a team so stopping at truckstops and using the internet is not really an option.
Here is a couple of questions I need some help with. I have AT&T right now for my cell phone. Is there internet card any good? Is it pretty fast? How much are they monthly and is it worth the money?
Thanks all

I have at&t. If you have a family bundle your cell phones, landline and air card. It is cheaper that way.

i have a separate air card thru Sprint, works well, imo.
i also have a G1 phone w/ built in aircard that i connect wirelessly to my laptop. thru T-mbl. -
When I was OTR I had one through Verizon. A bit spendy, but it worked very well. If I had cell service, I had internet and email. I found it was well worth the money!
Can you hear me now?simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
If your phone is on this list, you can simply use it as a modem, and add the $60 plan to your existing phone bill, and not have to enter into a new contract. That way you can turn it off a any given time without paying a fee. Getting an actual card will require a two year contract.
A lot of the guys out here are using Millenicom, they have a 10 gig plan for $60

ATT's air card works fine in major cities, not so good other places. Verizon is the better air card by far.

I have a sprint air card and I've had it so long that I don't have to worry about the 5 gig cap. It works nice. I can roam off of other network towers for free as well.

I saw at wally world that they have some pay as you go cards from verizion, at and t and sprint. Was wondering if anyone has tried any of them out?
I know the verizion one costs about 130 I believe and their cards are 15, 30, and 50. I know the 50 is for 30 days. Plus no contract. Just pick up a card or I'm sure you can renew online. -

I did have Sprint cells and air card....got it way back when, when there was unlimited usage on the air card. But when Verizon cut off renting some of their towers to Sprint, the coverage for Sprint got really sucky.
We now have Verizon, the 5-gig air card. Good coverage, and I've never gone over my 5-gig limit, but I can't watch TV or movies on it, because they eat up the gigs quick and in a hurry.
MrMustard and Dieselboss Thank this.
