I've been at Panther for just over a year. In that time I was able to save enough to buy my truck (happened today, had to hide the money somewhere before tax time). If you find the right owner I think just about anyone can find success here. It's an EZ qualify, non forced dispatch company. Just make sure you sharpen up on your negotiating skills. I went from tractor/trailer to straight truck and now can forgo the nightly rodeo at truck stops and am loving my mpg. BTW, new class B students are welcome so experience is not an issue. They do have owners w/ tractors if ya just gotta be in a big truck, and also cargo vans for those w/ no CDL. If your over the BFI's consider Panther! Tell 'em TB sent ya!

Actually, I think the majority of complaints come from drivers who contract w/ owners, not against Panther itsself. It doesn't help that Panther is unwilling to intervene when conflict arises between the two. A lot of the complaints are your run of the mill pissin n moanin about trucking in general, but quite frequently are serious like pay issues, harrassment, etc. As a driver, be sure to be diligent in your research of a potential OWNER as well as Panther, up to and including word of mouth. Panther will not give you any feedback on the validity of owners. If you are an O/O, you shouldn't encounter any of the preceeding commentary, and I highly recommend Panther. Good luck to you!

Btw, orientation IS redundant. Make sure to give your full attention when they discuss the importance of empty moves and other operational strategies. Competition for freight is fierce amongst the top producers in the fleet and you'll need to utilize all tools available. And lastly, be sure to bring your own lunch!!!

but im not sure why some many owners are ripping their drivers off.... dont they understand that its THOSE guys/ladies that is making the money for THEM and taking care of THEIR truck??? Im sorry, but even IF i put a driver in my truck at one point, i dont see it called for to rip the driver off. it will come back and bite you in the ###.... its just BAD biz -
Also I think Panther use e-logs also,i'm pretty sure i'm correct..
