I see admiral merchants and american am can ltd have hotshots leased to them, Anyone have experience with either of them?
I have a friend with an fl80 and a 40ft gooseneck, just seeing whats out there for his options.

Their system works well for me but may not for everyone.
I guess it really depends on what you're looking for in your lease.
You won't find one with more freedom than you have here.
I've been with them for a little over a year and have never met anyone face to face other than one of their agents who has a yard 4 miles from my house and lets me park my trailer there when I'm home.
They do orientation by a 3 hr conference call and a couple internet based classes and expect you to be a professional who doesn't need 2-3 days of classroom training.
You have to have your own trailer and you can lease on with almost any kind. We have car carriers, hot shots with goosenecks, flatbeds, stepdecks, rgn's and even 1 dry van that works exclusively for my home agent.
You get 75% of linehaul + 100% FSC on their loads and 83% of linehaul + FSC on loads that you find yourself (if you want to look on your own outside of their in house load board).
I have not ever asked anyone in Minneapolis to help me find freight so I don't really know how much support they provide in that regard. They have the country split up into 3 groups and there are 2 coordinators assigned to each. When you're new they will assign one of these people to help you learn the system and find freight but once you are experienced most of us only talk to them to get our advance loaded on our fuel cards and tell them to show us available on the inbound board when empty. You deal directly with the agents to book your loads not through a dispatcher like some companies. In this environment the strong excel and the others may not. That's capitalism I guess, no hand holding here. It's really as close as you can get to having your own authority without the risk. Once the agent gives you a trip number you call the coordinator for the area that you will be delivering in and he loads up to 50% of your share of the revenue on your T-Chek card and after delivery you scan and send your paperwork in and are usually paid in full within 2-3 hrs. If you're a self starter and motivated you can do well here. They have many guys who have been here 20+ years.
Also there is not a mandatory equipment list here. You carry whatever you think you will need for the type of freight that you want to haul. I've only tarped twice in the last year and my average load weighs just under 20,000 lbs.nofilter, coole99 and MackDaddyMark Thank this. -
I was wondering how there New England freight is. I see they have 3 agents listed in CT, MA & NH. Do they move much from those areas. I'm with Mercer & they are great but I live in New England & it is very tough to get out of here or stay busy with short loads that are worth while. I only use the NH agent up here for Mercer because the MA is unreliable and shady in my opinion and a lot of others as well. Otherwise I get stuf from the NJ agent or Louisville will occasionally broker loads out of here.
The volume just seems to be dwindling everywhere for Mercer & being that it is May I'm expecting more in the way of options. I know I can't get great loads but geez.
