I've only been stopped in Wyoming and they didn't even want me in there, just flagged me through when I pulled up. I've been nervous because I'm new to this, have no one to give me advice and I worry I might not have everything in order like I should. But I do tend to fret over details that end up being a non-issue later. I have however hauled in nearly all 48. Only states I havn't hauled through are ME, RI, NH, MA, OR and WA.

I just got pulled in in Nebraska. Well maybe shouldn't say pulled in but more had to sit on the scale for 10 min until the DOT revenue officer came out and did a lvl 3 while I was on the scale, then had me go inside and wait for about a hour until he twisted the rules to give me a citation. Anybody else have problems with Nebraska?

Last year on Rt 29 in SD they pulled me in the building he went in the pit & came out & said one of my brakes had to much travel.Put me out of service till it got fixed so I grabbed a wrenched fixed & took off.I also got a fine for something like $186.00,AND while I was there they pulled in 3 more straight trucks.Must of been straight truck day?!?!?I have to head that way again & plan on going around as many coops as I can.

Sounds like the time I stopped @ the port of entry in WY & they told me I need to get a road permit to drive the county roads.I was going to Sheridan for 3-days,just drive my truck into town,park@ parking lot & drive out 3-days later. So she tells I need a permit ,I ask were do I get this from, she says county courthouse,I ask where's that she shrugs her shoulders & says she doesn't know.So I say are you kidding me you don't know, she says wait a minute she looks @ a paper right in front of her & give me the address. So it cost me $42.00,now when I stop @ this port of entry & they ask were I'm goin I tell them Billings,MT. LOL!!

ok here is the secret!!! Most people don't think you have to have a class A to pull a goose neck... if your towing anything over 10,000 lbs or have a gross combination weight (truck, trailer, and load) over 26,001 lbs you must have a class a. if your crossing state lines you must be apportioned have a dot number and all the rest.... most think oh its just a 1ton or its just a 3/4 ton.... it don't matter.... oh and break check on the trailer is so much easier pull the breakaway cable if it rolls you fail... no crawling under the trailer... so you stay clean....

I agree with baw5775, with one of my goose neck trailers, I only used it in state for smaller loads. I was stopped only one time at the scale house, with no problems! The guy in the house told me they would see me all the time and were just curious on how much I weighed! I would be usually be loaded with several trailer mounted pumps and the associated hardware. I was within my weight and the only other comment was that when they always saw me, my straps were always visually sufficient, so they didn't feel the need to check any further with other more obvious problems going by! I would pass this station 4-6 times a day! So I guess one way is to look sharp and make the visual items obviously right! It worked for me!
