I'am trying to justify buying a 40' trailer over a 30' trailer . Ok lets say my F-350 DRW weight in @ 9000LB , 40' Drove tail @ 9000LB =18,000LB which means I'am only allow 8000LB of cargo, now take a shorter trailer 30' @ 7500LB my truck 9000LB = 16500 allows me 9500LB of cargo . The shorter trailer maybe less versatile but on another note I can carry more weight .
Note: Theses weights are just guesses !

Here's the other side of it, a 40' full load that weighs 5k. Can put a 30' load on a 40' trailer but not the other way around. You won't weigh 18k, probably closer to 15k to 16k. And it also depends on all the bells and whistles you want on the trailer. Air ride, deck over neck, sliding winches, everything on there adds weight.

Ya that's a good setup. The D rings might be a little much. I haven't needed a D ring on the trailer yet but prob will tomorrow after just saying that. The thing that will suck with the D rings is that with the straps we use they have a larger hook on the end. Their flat and the width of the strap your using. You might be able to use the straps with the chains on the end but that'll depend on the size of the D rings. Other than that sounds like a good trailer.
Oh also if you want to save weight make sure it doesn't have a torque tube. Unless your planning on going apportioned, which then the torque tube will help with when they are side loading you with much heavier loads. And other things. -

Also majority of the customers or shippers requeri that size a lot of times no use all space but any way customers preferred also you have better chances of take a backhaul load

I have a 40. Ft dove with monster ramps and elec over hyd disc hutch suspension 10 sliding wenches with straps all new unused . 25900gvw pj trailer never pulled load call 602 321 0561

I have been pulling a 25+5 -30 feet. I never run out of room. I am always running out of weight. the only thing the extra length will do is allow for long pipe, or cars. I am in Ontario and car hauling is not possible due to insurance. I get all my loads from load boards and so yes I have cdl and proper CVOR (DOT) I am busy everyday. I cant think of a reason to go with a super long trailer. just my 2 cents.

There are pros and cons to both but i went with a 40 footer for the sole fact that i have the room if needed, you always stay competitive with 40 feet. To each his own tho.
