I'm not looking to "get rich" some do, but most likely not haha. I am just trying to make a living anything is better than only making 1920 a month living on the edge as I am. even if the profit were only 2400-3000 extra a month that's still better than what I make.

My comments were based on how flippant he states he'll just run what he has for a year and make money. As if you just hop in the truck and make money simple as that. In super competitive trucking. And why does a 1 truck show need to be an LLC?

Legal reasons I would think. I have my own business (different industry) and I got my LLC right away just incase something happened I can't personally be sued, the business is and if that LLC goes under just go file under a new name and your back again.

Dump the truck, it won't work for long. It isn't the idea that the truck with "extra's" will do alright, the problem is that the truck isn't made to haul heavy weights. Get the $5000, use it for a down payment and move on to something bigger - the ford 550 sounds right.

What parts did you put in the engine to replace the weak ones?

I don't recall any weak parts in a 24 valve.

If you have the money to paint the truck, then you should put that away, your tranny may puke out on you without notice.

    2400 - 3000 extra?

    Maybe if you are lucky.

    This isn't shipping wars.

Hate to break the news to you, you can be personally sued, and if you try to move under a different company to avoid litigation, than you can still get sued. The LLC is nothing more than a step above a sole proprietor and offers limited liability protections, one of which is not personal asset protection. As long as your name is on the paper, and you manage that company, you are liable for it. This industry is even worse, because you are the driver, the manager and the owner, you have really no protection.

op, im going thru same deal, 3/4 ton f250, i bought a used goosneck with a 34ft flat floor and 8ft neck, i built my own ramps to haul a car and some freight, my trailer only weighs 5600 tri axel, my truck weighs 7s but with little gvwr so im limited to what i can pull, but it will do till i can get a bigger truck and move up, but insurance is biggest hurdle for a new venture, all the rest is minor and cheap per say, lots of little expenses adds up tho, look on here for my post about insurance and youll see what i mean, i just give prog 3200 cash because they will not do payments to me as a new venture, if any tickets at all it woulda been 5400 for 6 mnths, thats 1mill/ 100k cargo then new tires for truck to be legal if they look, then chains binders, and a brake safety box so if trailer becomes disconected by accident it locks the brakes, then a new slider 5th wheel to help control the weights distrubution on the truck and have enough capacity to legaly carry that weight., right now im getting info on just how much legally a 3/4 ton can carry because you can move it around on trailers and take it off our truck but then the truck has a legal towing cap you just can not go over no matter what you do or try to add to your truck to justify like air bags or extra springs, all that will not change those sticker numbers inside your drivers door, thats whats inportant to the scale guys-troopers-attornys-ect.

Okay, so we have established that I need a newer and bigger truck. I need to factor in all the little expenses plus the large hurdle of insurance, mc#, and dot#. Now when it comes to hauling, I was thinking about hot shotting for 5 or 6 different car dealerships, how would I go about building a reputation with these dealerships to get the jobs? is 5-6 enough to make any money? At a average $3.81/gal, $2.00/mile,13mpg loaded wih 3 large vehicles as stated other placed ive read for the dodge 3500, averaging 300 miles loaded 100 deadhead miles with 4 loads a week average, 48 weeks a year I could run my truck at $0.83 a mile profiting $0.67 a mile. is this realistic? $63,782 a year in expenses is what it would average while saving for the truck depreciation, trailer depreciation, liability insurance, cargo insurance, truck insurance, licensing, repairs, service, tires, meals, lodging, tolls, etc.?
Profit would come to 50ish thousand a year after all is said and done and also in those expenses is $22,510 a year in fuel.
