I say the best pick up depends on your preference and gear ratio depends on what your going to be hauling a lot of. Are you going to be heavy all the time? Or are you going to be light?

A truck that you can depend on, no matter who the manufacture. Certain years, if they change design, may take a couple of years to (work the bugs out ) they all have brake downs, just try to play the odds, and maintain them once you are running.

I love this Job & I just started in Oct of 2014. I'm leased on to a company now,but when my MC goes active I'm going solo. You can do this if I did it with no experience @ all, NONE!!! I did alot of homework for about 6months then went & bought a new Truck in September then quit my job 2 weeks later. The reason I went new because the most common thing I was reading is guys breaking down or get you something with a nice warranty. I don't have CDLs I'm under 26001. Lite Bug is on point you need good credit or some cash getting started

The short answer is yes. It does'nt matter if you tag it under 26,000. It's what the truck and trailer data plate says it will haul. For example my 1 ton chevy has a capacity of 4000 lbs front axle and 7000 lbs rear axle, thats 11,000lbs. Most hotshot trailers with 2 10,000 lbs axle are rated at 20,000 add in the 11,000 from the truck and your at 31,000. Sure you can tag for 26,000, but the scale house knows where to look. I was in Snyder Tx a few years ago and a dude in a dually pulling a gooseneck with a man lift on top got popped. He got 7 tickets, I don't remember all of them. Over registered weight truck and trailer, no CDL, no log book, medical card, fire ext, triangles. He was a house painter, going down to Austin to paint something. He was also put out of service for the no log book thing. Very expensive day. Hope this helps

Thats not the full side of that, if you register your rig as 26000 and have a bamas x2 tag as long as you dont go over that number your fine, ive had a few look at my door sticker and just move on, all they care about today is your tags rate, along with all the other stuff, log books, med card, ect ect, i had a level 3 done and he looked for 5 mins at my door sticker and just mumbled something and moved on, did get me for junk in the trunk sorta speak, too much in bed to fly out if in a accident. One of the inspectors said these new trucks can carry alot of weight today.

Where do you plan to sleep? You would $$$ ahead by buying a lightly used FL70 or 80 with a sleeper.

Running a Ford F350 with 7.3L and towing a 20ft flatbed I averaged out at .65 per mile last year. I've since purchased an F450 flatbed (towing the same trailer) and my costs will drop since I get better fuel mileage with it and the insurance is a bit less. No, I don't know why.
