ohhhhhhh...Pilot Car...I was gonna say, there may be a select market for those with a fantasy but you are most likely not gonna do too well as an "oversize escort"!
-
Reading the title of the thread Bayou, I had such a simple answer.
But reading the IP. It changes things a bit. She might try applying directly with the services, and find out what they need for qualifications. -
From the Title I wuz gonna suggest lotsa trips to the buffett! But instead suggest talking with other pilot cars drivers/ companies.

Perhaps this would help.
Oversize Load Escorts, by State...Big John Thanks this. -
It isnt that hard to become an escort. Biggest thing is getting her certified, which in Texas I bet they have classes all the time. Just looking at some of the escorts I get through Comdata and I KNOW it cant be that hard. Some escorts I always use dont seem to be getting rich, but they arent flat broke either.

The vehicle requirements vary by state. Maybe she could contact an escort service in your area and they would be able to point her in the right direction or even let her ride along for short trips.
-
Comdata escorts are the bottom of the barrel, can't get any worse then them. Yeah it isn't hard to be one but to be a good one and have some common sense is a different story.
-
We have our regular high pole and rear steer guys that we use, but when you only need one rear to go across Indiana we use Comdata. It is a crap shoot as to what you get. Some have been good and some you never want to see again, like the highpole they sent that had 2x4's nailed together for a highpole. Needless to say we just waited till the next day when we could get a better one.

She has called a few of them around here and all they say is we are not looking for anyone and give no info one place hung up on her
