Can anyone tell me how I-85 is, specifically starting from petersburg to about where it meets with I-40, the durham area? Is there construction?
i haven't been on this road for 4-5 yrs.

The worst of the Durham construction ended years ago, when we had to fix all the spots where Granite ###### up the concrete roadways. Anything you run into should be pretty light comparatively. When are you planning on driving through there? I have a contact list full of RDU area road builders, contractors, etc., but it's a bit late for me to call them tonight.

Was through there twice this week.....No problems at all.

Yes, it was nothing serious; Left lane closed at mm46 southbound but no big issue.
It has been about 5 yrs since i was on this road and i forgot how spread out the south is; You could really make some miles down there.
i have been doing only N.E. and ohio. -
I only have to run up that way twice every 6 weeks.
We run 95% southeast and i love it.
Atlanta is the only tough area in the morning or evening rush hours.
I have to run through Atlanta 6 times next week.....ugh! -
I-85 is wide open driver.

Yeah. Once the construction at the I85/I77 junction was complete, and we'd gotten through with the repairs on I85 and I40, driving to or through Charlotte wasn't so bad.

Only problem area is south of Durham well south where the new bridges are going up and road widening from about the 88mm down to the about the 79mm and at times its going to be bad. If coming south or going north into that area I would advise trying to find out traffic conditions in that area before Greensboro coming south or Charlotte going north because once you get to Lexington coming south or Salisbury going north if is backed up there is only 2 other ways across that river and both will take an extra 40 min if you are lucky if you find out before you get there you can use 40 and 77 or 40 and 321
