As most of you know, I put on a chain class for DHE each year. The following links are the hand out for this years presentation.

At the beginning of the presentation, there are sections that offer sage advice on being prepared for the winter season. There are so many little things that each of us encounter, and in retrospect, just take nonchalantly. When tasked to put these "little things" down on paper...one can't fathom how much doesn't come to mind.

For the past 3 years, as a member of TTR, I have read and enjoyed the "hints and advice" from more seasoned drivers, and some little things that a few rookies have discovered. These were shared with us here on TTR...so as I was preparing this years presentation, I went back and "borrowed" some of the tips from this Forum. However, when printing these tips for my presentation, the author of the tips was not highlighted, and therefore was not given the credit the post deserved.

If, as you read through the links, you have the opportunity to say..."I said that before!"...well you probably did...and I along with my fellow drivers at DHE thank you for your astute observations, along with your shared knowledge and experience!

Remember...there is always more than one way to do any task. This is the way I learned many decades ago...it works for me.

I just read through the link....and noticed that I did not mention the fact that the diagrams of "Recommended Chain Location" is for "Maximum Level" especially for California.

CA also has two other "Levels" of chaining...."Modified Max" and "Minimum". The "Modified Max" is chaining all four outside drive tires (not the inside), and the "Minimum" is chain on the outside tires of one drive axle (either axle is acceptable). Of course, CA also requires 2 "drag chains". These are 2 of the outside tires (one each side) of the trailer tandem set. The "Drag Chains" can be staggered.

And for those of you who enjoy catching me in my spelling faux paus...I found one "if" that is printed as "fi". Good luck finding any others!
