My husband works for Decker Transport in Davenport Iowa. Last week he asked for an advance and the cashier gave him a double advance. He knew this and did not correct the cashier. Now he is suspended and under investigation and will no doubt lose his job for theft. He was just told earlier in the week that I have Colon cancer. Now they sent him back on a bus. What do we do? Where do we turn? I'm scared and can't stop crying. Can anyone help us please?
Need help asap!! Please

Sorry to hear that. But like you said, he knew it and did not correct it. So it is theft.
Very dumb thing to do.
Maybe he will be lucky and only get short suspension instead of being fired. He better plead with the boss for his job.
Wishing you the best of luck.Ghost Ryder and vhughes Thank this. -
I'm sorry about your colon cancer, and wondering a bit here. When he was told about it, did he mention it to the company? Is it possible they set him up, to get rid of a potentially huge health insurance claim?
There is just something about this that doesn't quite pass the "smell test."Boka and cetanediesel Thank this. -
Why not just take the money out as they would for a regular advances instead of suspending sound as ecker being idiots.
Also hope your going to be ok, No need in crying. and hope all will come out well for you. -

There must be more to the story that is not being told, maybe the truck stop he got the advance from is trying to collect and driver was refusing? Or maybe something completely different that has been going on between him and Decker that he never told you about and this was the last straw? Management at Decker is usually willing to work with you to correct any wrong doings unless he blatantly lied and gave them false information about it, or about your health. Wishing the best for your health and recovery, but without ALL the information from your husband and Decker, not much anybody on here can do.

Cashier is more to blame for not paying attention.Hope she got suspended. If Decker wants him to come back after the suspention is lifted, tell him not to go back until he knows for sure he has a job.Sometimes companies will call the driver in only to fire him and he has to head back home.I wish I had some encouraging advice.

Stop it. It's a scam.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
As i read the statement that you posted correctly .....
1) your husband asked the cashier for his advance
2) cashier gives your husband twice the amount that he asked for
3) Your husband knew this was twice the amount and didn't bother giving half the amount back, then walked out the door.
Yea that falls under theft by definition. taking 2x the amount and a register receipt as proof.
only says Count your money before you leave the cashier at his next job -
We really don't know how the cashier paid it out. If he just took the amount and it was noted then there's no way it could be theft. Only if he took more than what was recorded.
RickG Thanks this.
