Question is, how long does it take to get that leased Ryder truck once the order is placed? (Yeah, its probably a million scenarios but I am talking in general unless you have knowledge based on my situation.)

We lease one truck from Ryder & I am the only company driver, but we use other trucking companies to haul our product OTR (I am generally speaking local - within 4 hrs one way). My dispatcher & a co-owner told me back in November we would be getting a new 2014 lease truck from Ryder because this truck is an '07 model & the lease is up on it as of 2/14. The dispatcher/supervisor, told me she was going to order the truck in January '14 & the truck would be here in Feb when the lease is up on this old one. Well, I knew better than that & figured it would be mid April in all honesty, so I just through that out the window about getting here in Feb.
February came & she said they decided to go with a three year lease this time rather than a 5 year lease & in order to do that, we would have to get a Cascadia instead of the Columbia she originally "ordered". Now she is saying the truck will be here in mid to last of March. Well, I am still saying April.
About two weeks ago (first of April), she now says that the truck will be here mid May.

Any idea how long it take Ryder's process to get from ordered (supposedly in mid Feb) to delivered on a lease truck?

Any insight on what I might expect or be prepared for in this process?

    Any input is appreciated.

I think you're dispatcher/co-owner is pulling your leg.

My old job had Penske units. It took about 3-4 months for one to come in.

depending on the model of truck and how it's equipped and if it's ordered from scratch, it could take 60-90 days. A regular truck, should be one lying around somewhere, should take less time. How are your trucks equipped ? Much depends on the agreement between your co and Ryder. With just one truck, they are not in any hurry to make it happen quick. The current "lease" can be extended 30, 60, 90 days easily. Next time you're at Ryder, ask the honcho about what's going on.

Ok. Finally, I have an answer. Ordered in March Got here one day this week. So, 3 months.... about... give or take a little.

I went by today just to get a tire replaced on the old one & they said; "your new truck is here if you wanna take it". But i was rushed for time today & so, we will wait & pick it up on Monday.
The guy at Ryder said he still needs to install an electronic thingggy.. something.. whatever he called it. I asked, is this thing coming with electronic log thinggy? He said, well I dont know about that but this is the satellite thinggy.

Anybody know what satellite thinggy Ryder is installing on a new 2014 Cascadia???

(I know, I know, I should have asked him but I think he was as lost as I was about this stuff. He just knew it was a satellite thinggy & it was coming later to be installed.)

    Thanks :)

Yeah it's called ryde smart. I have it but we had to unplug them cause they were messing with the ECM. It plugs into the ECM and can log state miles and track the truck and stuff.

Ah, so therefore I wouldn't have to fill out this manual report everyday?

If thats all its for then its no biggie. I was just worried it was one of those that checks when you hit a bump in the road & it sets off some stupid signal to Ryder etc... you know, all the stuff that gets you phone calls all the time.

Yeah that's what it does tracks your state to state miles.
