So two weeks ago I had a Stroke wich left me weak and numb on my left side. I had just spent the last year repairing everything on my 07 Columbia, and had finally checked off the last item on the list, I was making good money and loving my job as an O/O, then it happened. Now I am in debt, without income, and I am not sure if I should sell the truck or look for a driver, and in either case, it seems there are so many trucks for sale or jobs available that I have had a hard time figuring out where to start, or even what to do. I'd appreciate any advice anyone can send my way. Thank you.

Can you get a doc's clearance to drive again within a reasonable amount of time? If yes, keep the truck and get ready to git after it once you are good to go. If not, sell her to some up and comer who is willing to meet your price. Look into dispatching or brokering, as a career change.

CK. If the co. its leased to will let you put someone you know as a driver untill you can get doc. release to go back to work, Hiring a bad driver will be worse than letting it sit till you can drive agian.

You are only two weeks out from your stroke. Which, by the way, I'm sorry to see, you have my sympathy. But you have not had enough time to even deal with what has happened, let alone where you go from here. My strong advice is to do nothing with your truck for a while. Give it some time, try to get a prognosis from your doc, and then make a decision. Please, don't do "anything rash that you will regret" later on. Again, give it some time for your situation to level out.
Good luck man, nobody deserves to get hit with a stroke!

I'm sorry you have to deal with this now. Hope you will recover and be able to drive again. Things to consider: if you can put another driver in it per your lease (if you have one) and you have someone you could trust to take care of your truck then that may be the way to go. One thing to consider is how much have you depreciated the truck on your taxes? If you have already fully depreciated it and you sell it you will have to pay capital gain taxes on a large part of this revenue. A lot of things to think about and I wish you the best.

I am not American, but I would Drive your truck till you get well, to being able to drive yourself. I suppose its only few months. The only trouble is that I live in Hungary in Europe. I don't know if it is a problem.
    Get well Tamas.
