I'd like to buy smartphones for all of my drivers so we all have the same phone. The problem is, we cannot seem to agree on which one to go with. One guy still has a flip phone. Two of us have I phones and one has a Samsung. It needs to have a great navigation system and preferably have a voice recognition system. (Siri for I phones) Does anyone have any advice on which one to go with? How do most drivers use their phones and which brands do you have? Do most drivers also use a headset?
Thank you for all your help in advance.
I need help picking a smartphone to buy for my drivers

iPhone has a simple platform and isn't as prone to virus as the android. It's a simpler phone to use, perfect for people who aren't ready to ditch the rotaries yet, lol.
Big Don and bubbagumpshrimp Thank this. -

I'm a droid and partial to motorolas. Better reception at the expense of battery life but I still can usually go 2 days before needing a charge with my latest one which boasts a honkin' non replaceable battery. Razor Maxx HD. Note this a couple steps behind the latest and greatest which is where I usually try to be for various reasons.

I can tell you it does not like to go swimming when you do it was in my swim trunks pocket when I went swimming.
I can under stand getting everyone the same phones as it would be easier to support, I come from an I.T. (computers) back ground, but I think the ones having an Iphone now will not like going to a droid.
I would say you pick 1 model iphone and 1 model Droid so your drivers can hold them and "play" with them to see what they like and have them pick 1 of the 2 to have/use. Yea I know 2 different phones but by having them pick their phone they "buy into it" and is not forced on them like a Droid would be to the Iphone users.

I have samsung note and love it....
never had virus issues....
use bluetooth headset... it is the law btw
google maps are quite helpful but remember that smartphones are not truck specific when it comes to navigation..
i dont like any product made by apple other than my ipod and now my note 2 has taken its place ...tsavory Thanks this. -
From what I have heard the Droid Maxx also has the best antenna of any smart phone. I use it and it does not let me down. There are still dead spots but not as many as before.

Ok the break down iphones are pretty easy to use but their voice is something to be desired but better than most androids cost is pretty much at the top dollar. Not sure of navigation on them I have a personal objection to apple anything but thats me.
Samsung note is great and with the note you can use the phone for fast hand written notes I use mine for ld info a take into shippers but the voice is not that great. I use gmaps for looking up stops and if need be navigation. Cost is up around the iPhone. I like the use of extra memory space by sd cards not sure if iPhone has that.
Nokia with windows by far has the best voice control but it lacks on its apps cost less can use gmaps as well longer battery life.
Both Nokia and Samsung use same plug as almost any other phone out there but the usb3 combo cord that Samsung charges faster iPhone has to have it own cord that is worthless for anything else anything else.
My daughter has iPhone and it seems to lock up more often than my Samsung or Nokia phones.
Currently the chances of viruses is slim on any phone especially if you install something like lookout for android. But yes iPhone is less prone do to the locked apple system but it keeps some great things from happening as well.
All drivers should use headsets and I find Nokia to have the best speech control.
Personal order for driving and head set control Nokia Samsung then IPhone.
Personal order for apps Samsung iPhone Nokia
Personal for navigation Samsung Nokia Samsung
Personal for productivity Samsung iPhone Nokia
Over all Personal Fav Samsung
And keep in mind my thoughts might be somewhat bias cause from my computer background I dont like apple for much of anything.
Oh and dont forget RIM is back so blackberry maybe an option as well always liked them myself but the Note blows it away just like all the others IMHO -

Apple has always locked their stuff down so dang tight you can't hardly upgrade anything without buying newer or atleast from an apple store. Cant modify the OS to make changes that better fit me.
And dont get me wrong apple is not all bad. Take laptops for example I like macbooks for certain stuff but a Intel laptop with linux or windows is so much more versatile. And if a piece of hardware goes out can get parts almost anywhere but not a macbook.
Again not saying they are bad just personally dont like apples.Big Don Thanks this.
