Every state has their own DOT. And they all do things differently. We can view them as gangs for this purpose. As you are driving on the highways always remember there are 48 different gangs all ready to screw you as hard as they can, all from different directions. Isnt there an entire genre of porn dedicated to this exact subject?

Almost 14 years out here and I can count on one hand how many times I've had level 1 inspections. I can also count on one hand how many violations I was given too. The DOT aren't out to get us. They have a job to do. Just like us. One thing I can't count on one hand is how many times I've seen a DOT officer help a driver to NOT get a summons.
Khalid, Joetro, Tonythetruckerdude and 12 others Thank this. -
In 5 years, I've had two level one inspections (TX and NM) and I've received one ticket for a seatbelt violation (TN, I wasn't wearing it and he caught me red handed). All my run ins with DOT, the officers have been nothing but professional and polite, and the guy in TX was really friendly and funny also. I've never felt persecuted or harassed by a DOT officer (I can't say the same for my local police force in my hometown). They have a job to do and I'm glad that they are out there trying to get the unsafe charecters off the road.

i have "heard" many horror stories from other drivers getting screwed (DOT going thru garbage, sitting outside truckstops and seeing if you flagged the stop, and all sorts of OTT actions)
but personally, i havent ran into a bad one
yes, i have had some ask some dumb questions and they "tried" to catch me, but if you are up on your game, they lose every time
(one asked me for toll receipts, i told him, i cant find them) end of that inspectionmp4694330 and david123abc Thank this. -
I can't say much that hasn't been said. If you find yourself constantly being harrassed by the dot, it's probably you or your company bringing it upon yourselves.
Ebola Guy, double yellow, G.Anthony and 3 others Thank this. -
