Yeah, being a truck driver, that consummate professional, obeying the laws (as best you can), staying clean, regarding smoking some Mary Jane, drinking some booze, speeding, flipping people off, and a bevy of other things we try to NOT DO each and every day, being the professionals we are SUPPOSED to be,

If you retire, what is the FIRST thing you would want to do, that you cannot do now, costing you your license, job, etc, etc?

Hi G, I've got to say, I think you are probably the most disgruntled driver here. Even more so than Disgruntled Driver, who I don't think is disgruntled at all. I think it's going to be a LONG 4 years for you. However, being "semi" retired, just the fact that you don't have to deal with the everyday BS of trucking, is calming in itself. There's no sense of urgency, like when you were trucking. Waiting in line at the grocery store while "grandma" looks in her purse for that 9 cents, is even tolerable. The thing about being retired, or "semi" retired, is you don't have the money (or the steam) to do the things you've always wanted to do when you had the money, but no time to spend it. So it's a trade off. It comes up fast enough, so plan wisely, (which, sadly, I didn't)

    This.

I will probably take an extended road trip with my wife in the car and check out all the places I would like to go to but can't when in the truck.

Seriously? I would get super high. I would smoke so much that I should be embarrassed. Just because I could. While I was doing that, I would go check out all those things I could only see from afar. And somebody else would be driving. Lol.

As little as possible! Actually, I'm living that life, I retired at 50 last year and all I do is smoke pot, play COD, fly around the area and scare some cows and raise exotic chickens and ducks for a hobby...I have no desire to go anywhere or doing anything else, I've done everything I need to do in my life except "as little as possible", that's my new life's goal...

I would finally get to put some miles on my Silverado......2011 model and just hit 8000 miles.
Hook up my fifth wheel camper, load it with fishing gear, plenty of adult beverages and off I would be!

Park it on a beach somewhere and sit back....watch the bikinis go by and enjoy!

I've made it part of the house rules for the kids, First 20% goes into 2 separate saving accounts, 10% in each.

Account 1 has a 1000.00 limit, when it hits the money in then invested into a stock or bond of there choosing, leaving a minimum of 1000 always .

Account 2 has a higher limit, say 2500 to 5000. then its funds are transferred to a money market, mutual or index account, if not sed for a moor purchase.
