Do you remember what you weighed at that time, roughly? It's been 12 years since I got an overweight ticket in Ga. Back then it was 1 penny per pound. 1500 pounds over cost me $15.
Now, as with everything under the sun, the cost has risen
Zero to 1,000 pounds overweight is 0.8 cents per pound
Plus 1.5 cents per pound next 2,000 pounds overweight.
Plus three cents per pound next 2,000 pounds overweight.
Plus four cents per pound next 3,000 pounds overweight.
Plus five cents per pound for all excess weight over 8,000 pounds
Unsure about getting a ticket for blowing the chickenhouse, then getting an OVERWEIGHT ticket. I'd think the ticket would say what the weight was. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'm curious now.
BTW, what exact chickenhouse did your student blow?panhandlepat Thanks this. -
it was a week or 2 ago so neither of us can remember where it was he ran by the coop.
i didnt get pulled in and written a ticket so i don't know weight.
i'm wondering if what USA is calling an "overweight" ticket is actually from them zapping him with camera for blowing scale. -
I would call USA on monday and ask them about it. If you got a ticket you would know.

georgia charges fives cents a pound now, but if they give you the green light to go dont see how they could give you a ticket plus I would want proof first

If you're overweight, they'd tell you to park and come in with your paperwork, wouldn't they? They might even give you a free inspection to go with it?

yeah, but then... this is Georgia y'all are talking about.

I know of one driver (reliable guy) that got a heavy ticket in about the same manner. When he looked into it he found out the prepass system was sufficient enough proof to give him a heavy ticket after he blew by the scales. The only difference was he actually had the red light and not the green and they tacked on additional fees for bypassing on red. Maybe Ga is starting a pilot program for auto issuing heavy tickets via the prepass system. Heck, thats where it is all heading anyway. George Orwell had it right years ago... Big Brother rules the roost.
