Problem.
One problem I have had in the past with freightshakers was the driver side windshield ice balling up on the wiper arm and the windshield not giving me a clear field of vision. The aggravating part is the passenger side is always crystal clear. Pulling over every few minutes is out of the question. I even tried rolling down the window and grabbing the wiper blade and pulling it out and letting it snap back to the glass to knock the build up on it when it goes to the up position. Even with the heat on the floor and not the windshield (defrost) this always seems to happen.
Solution.
What I did find that helped is putting a wiper huggie (sold in stores) on the driverside wiper arm. This put more tension on the blade and did help some on the problem.
Ideas that help drivers out new and old.

Now, any suggestions on how to stop the problem of more washer fluid ending up on my mirror than on the windshield?pinballwizard and JustSonny Thank this. -

I bent the hose on the passenger side until it was almost pinched shut and hold it in place with a large paperclip. Then I reamed the hole on the end of the spray nozzle on the drivers side, making it about half again as big as the others.
Doesn't keep the fluid from getting on the mirror, but it does get more of it on the window where the wiper can get more use out of it.pinballwizard, JustSonny and rookietrucker Thank this. -
This could be a good thread - I thought I was the only one to reach out of the window to snap the wiper blade! . . .

Preheat the windshield.
At the first sign of snow/sleet/etc, max out the heat and turn on full defrost. If you're roasting, crack your window. It might not stop your wipers icing up in an all-day blizzard, but it dramatically improves things for quite a while.JustSonny and pinballwizard Thank this. -
If the outside temp is not too low the defrosters will help. If the window and wiper continue to ice up it's time to switch gears. Put on your coat, turn off the defroster, just a little heat on your feet. After cleaning the windshield and wiper of ice you will not get any more. If nothing melts (it's too cold) it will just blow away. Requires cold temps, not 29 and sleet, to work

Your mirrors may be to far forward. The Columbia I was in for a little while had that problem and the old Century I'm in now never had it. The mirrors on the Columbia were set farther forward than the ones on the Century. I could have moved them back but I never bothered to.JustSonny and pinballwizard Thank this. -
