It depends on the size of the tarp...and whether or not it has the end flaps.
-
Mine are all machinery tarps, 18'x24'.
Folded lengthways from the outsides to the center, then doubled up and rolled tightly from there.
With the inside of the tarp facing outwards so it's ready to be rolled out onto a load. (D rings folded inside).

You mean I'm not suppose to throw them in a ball and strap them to the deck of the trailer??? LOL I knew I did something wrong!
-
That works out good......until you need them again!
Mind, I only tarp maybe 4 or 5 times a year so I am not one to talk really.

I always tried to have my open edges folding to the inside on my final fold before rolling. Made for a neater bundle that way.
Get a broom for sweeping the tarp as you fold/roll.
Cold tarps suck to put away. -

I fold mine up on the trailer when empty. The ground is dirty.

I have steel tarps 16x24 and 16x28
I fold over each side lengthwise twice then fold them in half and roll them tightly. One fits inside the headache rack and the other in my side box on the sleeper (Western Star has a large side box )
