I had read they were getting big into heavy haul. If you ask me, that is just irresponsible.
-
I'm almost willing to bet it was a "brokered load" as well if you know what I mean.
-
I've seen them around, but never paid to much attention to them..
Now I'm really going to be looking -

Just about say Oregon.
Did you hear they are going to start building a biiger unit down there soon?
Expanding the plant and putting up new buildings out by the old loading area..The Challenger Thanks this. -
I knew they were breaking the joint venture with Hitachi. That would probably explain it.
-
Was told it's a 2 year building deal.
What I hated to see was they cut down all the trees on the road going in..
Was told they are going to redo the road so it's not a tight turn going in and coming out.
They figured out you will need 8 axles now for the bigger units.
Weighing in close to 84 kThe Challenger Thanks this. -

Funny story. I took a dozer blade out to that Cat dealer in Statesville,NC. This step deck pulls in behind me. A driver and his son hop out. I talk to the yard guy and the boy (about 10) gets his gloves and offers to help me with my chains. Yes, i know all about legalities and exploiting a minor, but how can you say no to a boy that wants to work? I thanked him and went to help them load. They were there to pick up a dozer with a 3 way blade.
Six: do you have permits?
Driver: no, I'm just going to run it.
Six: Bootleg? How wide is the load?
they drive the dozer on to the step deck.
Driver: 10 ft
Boy: Ummm, Dad, that's a lot wider than 10 ft'.
Six: Got a measuring tape?
Driver: Ummm, no.
Six: BRB
I get a measuring tape and I measure the load at 13 feet.
Six: Are you going to try to bootleg a 13 wide load through North Carolina?
The boy looked at his dad with uncertainty in his eyes.
Driver: Ummm, no. I need to call my boss and see what he wants to do.
I think it's funny when a 10 yr old boy can eyeball a load better than his old man.
