Ok its been 2 weeks and roughly 5k miles put on the platinum rebuild. No issues so far the power is night and day diff it feels as if it were turned up to 550hp. My fuel mileage before the rebuild was 5.3mpg after two weeks my average is 6.1mpg. The rebuild came with a 3 yr unlimited warranty and I can add a 4th yr for $500 more. My question would yall add the 4th yr or just leave it? Thanks for all the info yall have gave me!!!
fellow flatbedders the rebuild is done!!

The thing about warranties is that, they're a bet. You're betting that the item will break in a specific amount of time and that the cost to repair it will be more than what the warranty costs. So, timeframe and money. It's been my experience that things never break within the timeframe and if they do, the repair is half what the warranty costs.
Just my two cents.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Mine was a 08 freightliner with a c15 had to have both turbos changed and complete rebuild of engine. The drivetrain was in good shape cost was around 23k

I would add the 4th year for $500, yes.
MJ1657, 281ric, RERM and 1 other person Thank this. -
add it! its better to be safe than sorry

For the 500 I'd add the extra year. Not sure on how many miles you run a year but you could be closing in on 400k around that time and that's when you'll have a higher chance of something going wrong.

Yea the truck only has 410k miles on it now so 4th yr does make sense

$500 is cheap for another year. I added extra year to mine it cost $800. They got me on that one. It's funny in reading this I was thinking to myself that was probably $800 wasted but mine's not SDP. Would advise you to document every routine service including your DPF and related components. I sample every oil change. CAT sells sample kits for $12 with pre-paid postage, just get your sample when the oil is draining, seal the bottle, label it, put in envelope and drop in the mail. Get email results usually in a couple of weeks. Everything is documented plus you know if there's anything that needs attention before a failure. Check coolant with test strips often also.

For $500 it's worth it as long as it is good at more than one shop.
