Carbon Fiber Tarps

    A few years ago a friend of mine bought some carbon fiber tarps that were very lightweight, I think about 12lbs for the set. I'm trying to look online to find some for an older driver of mine but all the websites coming up in my search are for tents :biggrin_2552:. Does anyone know of a website or company I can call that sells carbon fiber tarps?

    Whew, that stuff is expensive. I found sheets of it, but you would have to have tarps made up from that.

    I wish I could find the place my friend used, I'm trying to get in touch with him to see if he still has the contact info. They made the actual tarps, and the prices weren't bad from what I remember. If I find it I'll post it here.

    I think you're correct about that. Carbon Fiber would probably be cost prohibitive.

    Cuben Fiber is a laminated fabric constructed from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber monofilaments and polyester, PVF etc. films. Cuben fiber is sometimes confused with carbon fiber.

    Ya, carbon fiber is very strong but brittle and is not meant to be bent so I would be floored if they were making tarps out of that

    dothan tarp in AL. makes them with sides made of that and top sheet made of thick mat. 6ft. that you can pick up and put on trailer with bad back.

    My friend found his contact info, they're Kevlar Ultra Lite tarps, made by Gulf Coast Canvas Awning in Houston, TX 713-695-5245. I just called him for quotes, waiting to see prices.
