Hello, I bought a new step deck trailer and wanting to buy new tarps and was considering buying some that are light weight. I know that most people would say to stick with the 18oz vinyl tarps but they are just too heavy. I found a few websites that claim to have some that are 13oz ,28% lighter and hold up just as good and the 18oz heavy duty. The new material its made out of is called SHELTER LITE. I was wondering if anyone has bought any of them and how to they hold up. They are really expensive, I wanted to get some insight. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanx.

There has been light weight tarps around for some time that are as strong as 18 oz. check myteeproducts.com
I've used them and it's a bit different material, sort of stiffer, a bit different folding and rolling. But yeah, it's about the same as 18 oz as far as resisting tears. Might be worth the weight savings for lumber tarps if you use them a lot. I really don't mind the extra 20 lbs or whatever for a steel tarp. I like the way the 18 oz. rolls up better.cabwrecker and vasili333 Thank this. -

I know drivers who buy from tarp city, I think is the name in Granite city il. I drive with these drivers, they are real good material, not sure on price. I know this question was answered some time back in the flatbed section.

I order from myteeproducts.com super light 8 foot drop lumber tarp claiming 53 pounds each and I got the 75 pounds ones I complain and they say you can return them but guess what shipping was $250 , there is no respect anymore companies yes don't care anymore as long they can charge you first and never see you again , this hurts because I am small frame 140 pound guy

I remember back when I was 152lbs I could overhead press 240lbs 5X5. Hit the gym and every tarp becomes light.

OHP 240 lbs? Uh wow....
I just bought a set from Winkler canvas out of Winkler, MB. They have a good reputation. 13 oz and they seem to roll up real nice and tight. They will probably get tighhter after a few months of wear. But $2300 for 5 tarps (four piece plus smoke).
