Brokers, this is a question for you.

When posting a load on the boards, does it matter to you who calls on the load, or does it come down to how much they want for the load, and how much time you got left to book it?

Or do you actually take the carrier into account? Do you like using the Werners and the Swifts, or smaller companies, or Independents?

I'm curious as to what kind of mindset a broker has when it comes to who is hauling their freight.

    Thanks!

I'll venture a guess, brokers have "go to" carriers, just like carriers have "go to" brokers. Past performance issues weigh in, such as, on time pick-up/delivery, no freight claims, on time payment etc. Brokers who deal with clients (shippers) that give them plenty of business and pay on time, well, they want to keep them happy, right ? So they may be leary of using a carrier with a bad rep, but may have to if they're in a pinch.

Status Transport is right.. First thing I look at is your Safe-stat. Second thing is are we set up to do business together. Again fleet size has no preference. I tend to use the small carriers(mom&pop), simply because they provide the best service, and I have to keep my Client happy! Third, I dont do business with Swift, JB, Werner; simply because I would spend to much time driving the trk for the driver!

Fourth, is if your M/C number is 9 minutes old; you dont get the load either! Too much liability

My MC is 2 months old .... Everyone had to start at the beginning ....there is in my opinion a huge difference between opinions, ideas, and racist, offensive statements.....Still waiting on your company name so you can be placed on my do not call list

And you are correct I am a veteran and served my country proud, I am not from the middle east or muslim, or Asia (or whoever else wears a turban) But I do find racism offensive, and prefer not to work with your type...even by mistake....so pm me the info and we can be done

@Clasix - I currently work for Dyncorp; doing logistics here in the Desert. Airfreight mostly. Though we also use Trkload in the states to move freight for certain customers that are bound for the middle east, other places as well. Though I quite AGREE with you with your statement about someone has to start somewhere. Although; how many Brokers or customers won't load you because you have'nt been in business long enough or have an established safety record? Give it time if your going to say none, because its coming sir! Ask any Broker on here if you like.

If you are offended then I oppologise to you sir.. Oh; and don't worry I dont do any inbound/outbound out of Ohio either. There ya go, no PM needed!

Lastly; sir you have it posted that you have been driving for 15 years; though you may be good at driving, Knowledge of the Broker world seems to be "NEW" to you at best. So here's some free education as to why SOME/MOST Brokers analyze their carrier base or have their Business models set the way they do.. Google "Fresno-Scam" or ask a Broker on here if you wish. Thank-You, have a good day!

Thank you. To answer your question I have been turned down due to the "age" of my MC, also once because I don't have a dispatcher. Part of the business and I am fine with that. I just dont think to sterotype a certain group is good business pratice, to each his own....good luck to you

an MC is a master of ceremonies...
Or in this case they're referring to a motor carrier number

@ Clasix- Though I'm not sure who turned you down for not having a "dispatcher" the majority of us load drivers all the time that run out of their trucks or their wife does all the Business upkeep, ie...dispatching, paperwork, check-calling, etc.. Again I dont know the particulars. When I come home very soon The thought has crossed my mine to open my own agency to pull DOD freight, or general freight(f.a.k). You & the other approx. 250 carriers that I deal with, I would do Business with simply because, again the "mom&pop" Business's provide better service.Simply our success in this Business is dictated by the Job that you perform and the professionalism that you provide to the end user.

You may call it Stereotype, alot of us call securing our customers freight and our job security. Also; a little bit of insight to you is that some customers dictate to us not to use certain methods..ie, intermodal, Van not reefer,etc... Yes; even certain nationalities.clientsverbiage of "we would prefer if you didnt send us this type of carrier". Wether you or I; we still have to please the customer. May I ask; are you a van or Reefer?
