My 2012 cuts off some of the 12volt plugs and interior lights after a few minutes unless I have the TriPak switch on. Sometimes the TriPak starts as soon as the key is turned off. I have to turn it off when pull in to fuel or it will start up while I'm fueling. Even with the lights and everything else off.
-
tripak switch? do you mean the one on the floor? because the new models dont have the same as the older ones. This one is a 2008 actualy
-
No he's talking about the APU. You're thinking about the main power switch. My battery minder goes off after about 20 mins of sitting with interior lights on. After about another 5 it kills the lights and cig lighters. Then I can kick the APU on and everything comes back on.

where is this switch located. This is mainly a volvo garage were having a hard time with this

The main power switch is in the floor between the driver seat and door, but that only turns the power off and on to the entire truck. An APU is an auxiliary power unit. Its a generator that runs the heat and air, and charges the batteries when the truck engine isn't running.

I had the same problem after my batteries were replaced last summer - the power saver cuts in and turns off the lights much sooner since the batteries were replaced. There's nothing wrong with the electrical system per Freightliner. IDK, perhaps there's an adjustment for this - you might ask Freightliner. On the APU side, my TriPak wasn't turning on soon enough so the batteries were running down quite a bit over night. There is an adjustment in the TriPak controller box to adjust the turn-on point, and this should be looked at every time you change batteries since the cell voltages will be different.

Found the problem. The altenator had been replaced and they forgot to put a jumper wire.
GrapeApe Thanks this. -

So, I now have a Cascadia with a similar problem except it has NO APU on it. Took my home time (3 days) and the truck starts up, but the 12v DC outlets no longer have any power going to them.
Should I:
-Find the fuze box because those fuses are blown or need to be reset? (My Prostar had "Circuit Breaker" type fuses, not sure if this one does as well or not)
-Turn off the Master Power Switch for a while and see if everything resets after?
-Run the truck for a half hour to get enough juice in the batteries and everything will then reset?
Thanks in advance for any help on this you can provide. .
