Looks like I have an intermittent injector pump code. Intermittent CEL, slight loss of power, rougher than normal idle.
Luckily though, I have spares of the @$700 SOB!
Will delve into it when I get home, and see if it's a pump, or a blocked line, harness, etc.
Harness was replaced @2yrs ago, and new nozzles went in last year in January, so doubtful of that myself.
Pick up my OTC diesel code reader Friday too, so good timing on that too I say!
Will update when I find out. If it turns into a rolling rattle trap, I do have a spare unit pump on the truck though, so I may have to spend 1/2 hr doing it on my way to see if that cures it.

Well, full fault code was for the plunger in the unit pump.
Dealer said they would get me in right away, so had them replace the unit pump, high pressure fuel line, pass though tube (all of which I had on the truck already as spares) and the nozzle I hace a load of jobs to do tomorrow so let them do it. $365 out the door, so not bad at all IMHO.
Code reader turned up today too, and it is excellent! Brought up an HVAC code!
Martinlv gn Thanks this. -
firts of all do the engine diagnostics with DDDL ore Star Diagnose
find cylinder, that missfires
After that run compression test and mooth idle control test. Cylinder disballance must not be over 5%.
If you see ballance and compression is OK, check decompression valves. Try to disable decompressor solenoid and drive truck. If no this problem = valve may intermediatly stcuk. -
Hmmm, it's fixed mate!
Clayton did balance the cylinders, and run a compression test both before and after the repair was made.
Yet again though, I do not have the high $$$$ DD software and cord, just a lowly diesel code reader! So when I need more, I take it to my local shop and they treat me right. Yeah, I could have done all that work myself no problem, but had all new ball joints to replace in this little toy today, and leave out tomorrow...

ask dealer save fault codes, cyl ball test, compression test for you in PDF and post all this stuff here.

We did it THURSDAY Pablo.
All cylinders were over 90% IIRC though. Forgot the balance test, but Clayton said all is good in the world.
There are basically 3 or 4 guys there that work on my truck. Weekdays in the PM is normally Clayton, AM is Eric. Weekends is Steve. Needless to say I trust these guys.

MBE is a good engine. I work on MB trucks for many years and I'm surprized that it is not supported welll in the USA. PLD system is very reliable
Yep, I know problems with decompression valve and gaskets. but really so easy to fix -
Pablo I had my truck in the shop a while back and this is how the computer printout read, The mechanic sayd there may be an issue with cylinder #3 since it varried quite a bit from the others in the idle speed balance test. How does it look to you???
Impact delay times
Cylinder value
cylinder #1 1766 us
cylinder #2 1659 us
cylinder #3 1609 us
cylinder #4 1602 us
cylinder #5 1590 us
cylinder #6 1691 us
Idle speed balance
cylinder value
cylinder #1 -0.05%
cylinder #2 -0.04%
cylinder #3 -0.31%
cylinder #4 0.05%
cylinder #5 0.13%
cylinder #6 0.22%
Martin, are you happy with the code reader so far?? Like I said before it may not be as sophisticated as some of the other software availabe but for only a couple hundred dollars it's not a bad little tool.Last edited: Apr 6, 2013

really all is good/
do mechanical fuel pressure test
amd do compression test
figures I see are good,really good -
