So Ive had a truck down for a month, It started as a head gasket and now it just wont stay on.

I start it with starting fluid and drive it for 10 miles and it shuts off and wont start.

I have to put fuel in the fuel filter.

I just put a new fuel pump one and its doing the same thing so its now the pump.

Detroit said check the PDM but I have no Idea what that is or means.

    Please Help

So, when it runs, it is running the filters out of fuel then?
    All the unit pumps pumping?

What do you mean all the unit pumps? isn't it just one fuel pump and then 6 small injector senders

The "injector sender" as you call it, is the unit pump. @$700 a pop at that! There are 6 of them. They are infact high pressure fuel pumps.
So, does the fuel filter run empty when it's running? Have a Davco unit that you can see the fuel level etc?

Yes, sorry the until pumps work, until the fuel filter gets dry then it stops spaying.
The fuel pump works and the lines are clean!! I ran pressure in them today. Thanks

Guess at it sucking air through a line. Easy thing to check.
Stupid question, but if you have a DAVCO filter, the o ring IS on the top cap isn't it?

to be sure, check battery voltage on EECM (temic). Small 16 pin connector, remove its cover and use needle to access trmonals, no reason to unplug it. Use 21-55 wt bulb to be sure.

Brown wires - ground, red - battery power, pin#15 - ignition power

Step #2 - make a fitting for fuel pressure gauge. I use to remove fuel temperature sensor and use this hole to measure delivery pressure, thread is M16x1.5

Bu sure no air suck, lines are good

Okay soo after 2 weeks of fighting with this truck it's been a big pain. We found out that the bolt on the drive is not powerful enough spin the fuel pump To create pressure.
